Struggling with Motivation

This week I've really been struggling to get motivated and can't seem to accomplish anything that I plan.

What do you do to kick start your motivation? And, what do you do to stay motivated?

I make lists.  And, if I post them here, where people might read them, I go back and check things off so that I feel like people can see I'm accomplishing things.

Thanks Peek. I do make lists too, but just haven't cared to follow them. Maybe your tip about posting them will be better for me.

Liv - I know what you meant. Compared to others I still seem pretty motivated, but compared to how I usually am I'm a huge slacker right now. It is so frustrating.

What kind of things are you trying to get done?

When I'm at home and I want to get things done around the house (cleaning, organizing, gardening, etc) I drink lots of coffee and that usually gets me going.

I also make lists in my planner each day of what I need to get accomplished at work/home.

Tonk - FI suggested coffee as well, but I don't drink it. To be honest it is a lot of random stuff. Everyday house stuff, plus gardening once things dry up a bit, plus a lot of house projects (grading around the house, putting in a new bathroom, painting, etc.), plus planning a wedding and other stuff. There are things I don't like doing, like calling vendors (house or wedding related) so I'll research a lot and not get anything of substance accomplished.

I know we've been doing the motivation thread on and off, mostly because we all just seem to forget about it.  But, if we stick with it, I really do recommend setting a manageable amount for a week, and then going back and checking stuff off.

I'll freaking keep you accountable. :)

You've got a lot going on at once!

Maybe you could take a planner or calendar and pick specific days/weekends to get things done.  Write them down and cross them off as you go.  If you can't get to soemthing, move it to another day.

Posting on TK will probably help too :)

Peek - Great idea. I think people around here could definitely keep me motivated.

I break my lists down into ridiculously small chunks and everday mundane tasks as well because I like crossing things out. Also to show myself that I'm truly not wasting time. Pathetic, I know

Tonk - Just talking about it is actually helping me. I have a long commute and it is hard to get motivated when I get home, but maybe if I have my list ready to go that'll help.

I've really been struggling with my motiviation to get up and go to school lately. I love my school, i really enjoy what I do, but I hate the girls I go to school with and I especially hate the atmosphere of the school. I find myself wishing everyday I had chosen to go to a school somewhere else, where I would fit in better and feel more comfortable.

I was late to school yesterday and just didn't go in this morning although I know I need to. Ugh, sorry I am of no help with the motivation because I can't even motivate myself to go to school and workout like I know I shoud.

I know that this is totally ridiculous- and I don't know why it works for me, but somehow- tv is incredibly motivating. I love doing housework during the commercials- it feels so rewarding. Something about combining something I like (tv), with something I feel good about doing (laundry, dishes, dusting) makes me feel like a champion!

I'm constantly rewarding myself...a half an hour of yard work- get to read one chapter in my book.

Now if you can find me something for the gym...that would be good. I hate the gym. I hate the fact that SO doesn't have to go to the gym. I...HATE...THE....GYM.... ::sigh::
