Buddhist elements in ceremony?

Hi,

I'm not religious but I beleive in Buddhist philosophies...interested in incorporating some Buddhist elements into the ceremony.

Due to my finaces Catholic parents, we're having an Episcopalian minister in an outdoor ceremony.

Any thoughts on how to incorporate some elements?  Poem, ritual etc?

THANK YOU!

  • You may try posting on the Interfaith Weddings board.
  • I also appreciate some of the Buddhist philosophies, specifically those of Zen Buddhism.  We added a zen element by attaching hand drawn (by us) enso "zen circle" brush paintings on all of our invitations.  We used a papyrus-like hand made paper and incorporated a label that summarized the ideas and philosophies of the enso painting and our personal appreciation for the art form.  The fact that the "zen circle" image ties in nicely with the wedding ring makes for a nice touch.
  • You could also have short readings on some elements of Buddhist philosophy that are particularly relevant to marriage, such as those on patient acceptance and compassion.
  • I too consider myself buddhist, my fiance and his family are catholic. I am trying to think of ways to incorporate some ideas for our vows that would represent my faith as well. Having a little trouble.
