Woot! This'll be fun, Elle! I think an auburn thing could be really cool. Highlights and lowlights, for sure. Buuuut your natural color is absolutely beautiful, FWIW.

Everybody is right about the red washing out very quickly. My stylist dyed my hair a really light brown before putting in the red streaks (I have naturally black hair). She did that so when the color would start to fade, it wouldn't fade to yucky orange blonde. And so once the red was gone, it just looked like highlights. I loved her. But I left her back in California.

ok - so I love the red idea, but i'm completely with you about not being brave enough! It's something i've considered...but haven't got the guts to do it. My stylist has mentioned doing highlights and lowlights at the same time with my natural color(see below for an idea)...she suggested the lowlights be a light red color that would give me a strawberry blond look. Maybe you could try something like that? I'm thinking i might...

Elle, be prepared for the fact that they are gonna want to chop most of your hair off... I don't go for haircuts often and every time I go I get 'reprimanded' by my hairdresser... He's HOT though... so I totally don't mind! LOL  but he yells at me and then cuts off ALL my hair! lol

I went red last summer, and it didn't really fade that fast.  I will say though that even though I liked it at first, and everyone else did as well.  BUT for my wedding I wanted my original color back and it is hard to go from red back to my blonde.  My hair was died dark red though so that might have something to do with it.  Good luck with it, I'm sure you'll be beautiful in whatever you decide!
