New...but not new

Hey guys.  I'm kinda new here I was around a lot last summer after I lost my job, but got a new job at the end of summer and disappeared.  But now I'm back  Soooo...I guess I'll introduce myself again.  My name's LeAnn, my boyfriend is Shea.  We've been together for somewhere upwards of a year and a half, but not quite to 2 years.  I have found my way back to the boards out of boredom...he just deployed last Thursday  I do have two daughters but with it being summer they're gone at their dad's a lot.  So for the first time in 8 years I have found myself alone, bored, and lonely.  So here I am...looking for something to occupy my time.

Oh, I guess I should have mentioned some more about his job eh?

He is actually out of the military, he was Army.  He's deployed now as a private contractor to Afghanistan.  He's planning on spending the next three years overseas before coming home to settle down, buy a house, get married, and have babies

I work for a health insurance company.  It is the most boring job ever.  But it's a great job with amazing potential, so I'm glad to have it.

Oh my goodness. Three years in Afghanistan? Wow. I'm not sure if I could hold myself together. MAD props to you.  

Working for a health insurance company doesn't sound like the most interesting job in the world, but right now, a pay check is a pay check.

So, do you like Harry Potter? I just finished re-reading the series for the umpteenth time.

FI had a chance to go to Afghanistan for 1-2 years. It was really tempting. Good pay, tax-free... but he couldn't stand being away for so long. I'm glad he didn't go because I would have missed him like crazy.

If he ever does take on overseas position, he'll try for some place like Germany or Korea so we can go together. I am glad that your BF is waiting to start a family until he gets back. I work with a lot of military children, and it can be harder on the kids when Daddy or Mommy is deployed than it is the actual spouse.

I have never read HP...sorry :-/ I'm just a big fan of wizardry and sci-fi and all that kind of stuff...I'm a sucker for some Nicholas Sparks though, I've read every single one of his books over and over and over.  I love a good cry, and he gets me every time.

As far as the whole gone for three years thing, we both feel like it's such a small price to pay in exchange for the way it will alter our entire futures.  But don't get me wrong, I'm currently an emotional nut case pretty much crying every time we get off of facetime.  I'm hoping this emotional crap will end, but as I said, I do love a good cry lol.  

I know from my time here last year you ladies love the off the wall questions...so let me have it!

My H's old job wanted him to contract in Afghanistan too.  One of his coworkers did it, it was only supposed to be 3 months at a time, but he was there for 9 months.  The company basically lied to him to get him out there then refused to bring him home (that was not the only crazy crap with that company, it was a disaster).  Yeah...H quit not too long after that fiasco.  But plus side is he made crazy money while he was there.

I enjoy Nicholas Sparks too, but not all of his books. Dear John SUCKED and my dad had just been diagnosed with lung cancer when I read The Lucky One. I was a mess for months. I do absolutely love A Walk To Remember, A Safe House (or whatever it was), and The Guardian.

What are your thoughts on gay marriage?  I'm cool with it.  Although I struggled with admitting this for a LONG time as I was raised in a very Christian household.  But as I got older and formed my own opinions, I realized I don't give a f*** if gay people get married.  They'd probably last longer than Kim Kardashian and what's his face.
Is your muffin buttered? Yes?  No?  I'm not sure...I like butter on cornbread?
What are your thoughts on pro choice/pro life?  Eh.  This one I still struggle with.  I feel like it's a free country and you want to have an abortion that's your right.  However, I also feel there are so many better options available to people who don't want to have babies.  But then again, I understand finding out you're pregnant and being terrified and just wanting it to go away.  Eh, I'm stuck.
