HELP: SEALING SAND CEREMONY?

My husband and I did a sand ceremony and now it is sitting in a vase with nothing to seal it off. What suggestions do you ladies have that would work to seal off the vase so sand doesn't spill?

I went to Michaels a few weeks ago and they had a wedding display that had a sand ceremony display, it looked like either hot glue or some kind of clear gel on the top of the sand, I thought that was a great idea for an open vase

The stuff you want to seal with is the clear plastic gel that people use to make a silk floral arrangement look like it's in water in a glass vase.

I don't know what it's called, but I've seen it at Michael's. I think it's a powder or something and you add water to it, not sure. But it's in a box at Michael's. Ask for help.

I found fabric that matches our wedding colors and cut it into a circle. I am going to hot glue the fabric around the top of the glass conatiner and finish it off with a matching ribbon.
