Not Engaged Yet

Lurking no more

Responding to the thread that lurkers please step up and introduce yourselves. I like to listen more than talk (on here and out in the world), so you may not see a whole lot from me, but now you'll know who that random person is when I do show up!

Here's the questionnaire thinger:

Screen Name:  Actually, I don't know! Caraline####, or something akin. You can call me Cara.
Age: 23
Significant Other's Age: A few days shy of 23
What You Do: Administrative assistant and nursing student
What SO Does: Mechanical engineer (he's graduating in May and has accepted an awesome job about 10 minutes from me)
State of Relationship: Perdy darn good (and also, we're in one, not engaged yet)
How Long You've Been Together: Four years in June!
How You Met: Freshman year of college when we ended up in the same team-building group in our honors program. I thought the activities we did were pretty dumb...but I liked him and he liked me, so I suppose we got something out of it :-)
Wedding Date (if you're engaged/married): N/A, but possibly next year if our work/school situations work out the way we'd like
Real Babies: Not even thinking about them
Fur Babies: None for now
Loves: Books (anything but fantasy), Big Bang Theory, writing, running, climbing, food (as long as it doesn't involve feta or coconuts), thrifting, traveling, bright colors, warm weather, and the people in my life
Hates: Well...obviously feta and coconuts. Not much else beyond that...
Pet Peeves: Tardiness and laziness
Hobbies/Activities: Reading/writing, forcing myself to exercise, cooking and baking, planning vacations and mini-vays, volunteering whenever and wherever I can
Favorite Thing About Your SO: He can fix anything, is a great listener, and looks doggone good in red.
Least Favorite Thing About Your SO: He stresses sooooo much about his schoolwork that sometimes he can't talk or think about anything else. I admire his diligence, but it is exhausting to sometimes to be sensitive to some of his problems when I don't even understand what he's working on.
Describe Your Personality: Quiet, compassionate, curious, genuine
Snark Level (1 [low snark] - 10 [high snark]): I am pretty low snark, like a 4, maybe
I've Been On TK Since: I've been poking around for a while
How You Came to Be On TK: After I graduated and we started putting a time-table to stuff in the future I started looking around
How I like my potatoes: French fried and smothered in ketchup
Favorite book/author: Flowers for Algernon is my favorite book, but I enjoy any genre barring fantasy
Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself: ...I don't think I can. I've been thinking about this question for a few minutes now and nothing comes to mind, lol.

  • Welcome, welcome. Originally I too just read posts and didn't find myself commenting too much. However, once I started commenting, I quickly became addicted and now look forward to my TK time. Unluckily, or luckily?, my school has blocked TK (and any website with a forum, which stinks when it comes to looking for online teacher resources) so I am left to type on my phone, and I absolutely hate it. I can't type as quickly as I think, and my messages get jumbled. LOL.

You're just about the same age I was when I started dating FI :). He and I also met during my freshman year of college, but at that point he was already a junior. So yeah, I was 23 when we had our 4 year "anniversary", and got engaged just over a month ago. He and I had both discussed getting married, and we both knew we wanted to be graduated and have stable jobs before we did. You sound like you've got a good head on your shoulders, and I really hope everything works out for you two and you're able to take the next step as soon as you're able. :) Just remember, no need to rush it, but I'm sure you don't need to be told that.

Now for some personal stuff. Why don't you like fantasy? And because of this, I assume you don't like Harry Potter? or Lord of the Rings? or Chronicles of Narnia? Have you tried to read any of these books, and just can't get through them? My two favorite genres are Fantasy and Sci Fiction (I am a little biased though, lol), so I have a hard time understanding why folks don't like these books, but don't worry I won't hold it against you :P. Really, it is just like how I can't really read Realistic FIction, though there are many RF books that I have read and enjoyed, it just isn't my cup of tea (speaking of which, I think a cup of tea with some lemon and honey sounds lovely right about now.)

Anyway, welcome welcome... even if you don't like Harry Potter *shifty eyes*. :D
