2 More hours....

I've only got 2 more hours til I'm out of here.  But those two hours will be filled with phone calls, media inquires and stuffing envelopes.  So, how's your day going? Anything exciting happening?

Procrastinating at the moment, but determined to get off my happy little butt and clean out some closets and reorganize/declutter our bathroom cabinets. BF and I have the whole weekend to ourselves (which we didn't get often because I used to work weekends) and we had planned on using that time to do some late spring cleaning. Being that it's our first weekend at home together in...well...I can't even remember, I figured I'd surprise him and get a lot of it done now, so we can just relax and enjoy ourselves instead of cleaning.

ETA: What's going on for you after these last 2 hours?

My day is very boring and I am very tired. I'm sitting here at work with nothing to do, as per usual. I'm jealous that you're done in 2 hours. Do you start really early? What time zone are you in? I'm in CST so its currenlty noon for me, and leaving at 2:00 sounds lovely.

Oh, nothing much.  Just supposed to be closing on our house today.

In preparation, I have started clearing out my closets.  I finally admitted that I have a clothes problem.  A major one.  I refuse to move stuff that I never wear and definitely will not be able to wear after Mr. Man is born.  I have already tackled closest #1 and got rid of about 40 tops/shirts.  I just have two closets left to clear out.  One is my dress closet and the other one has bottoms and work out gear.

I am hoping to let DH actually have some closet space in our new bedroom.  He doesn't believe that it will happen.  I am determined to prove him wrong.

I'm in the Atlantic Time Zone so it's 2:07 p.m. right now.  I work Monday 9-5 BUT today I didn't get a lunch 'cause it's so busy, so I'm outta here at 4.

After work I'm going HOME!!!!!  I'm going to take the pugs for a walk, watch Glee in my yoga pants and maybe cook supper (or maybe I'll order something) and then pick up FI at 7.  He's off at 5 but the boys from work are all playing Starcraft after work and ordering pizza.  lol

It's raining here and rain always makes me groggy. Lately aside from my normal work I've been shadowing a girl and training for her position when she leaves. She is getting married in August and moving to California. Now I get to work the front desk the rest of the afternoon and find an anniversary present for BF.

Mutley  I'm so excited for you and DH!!!

I cleaned out one of our closets last week - I got rid of 3 garbage bags!!! (sent to the Salvation Army) and this weekend is closet #2.  I agree about not moving stuff you don't wear.  I'm prepping for August when we have to move. lol

I'll send positive Canadian knottie vibes your way, hun! I'm sure everything will go smoothly.

O...M...G! I loved last night's episode! So good.  Funny story tho: I haven't made it all the way thru season one yet!  I've got three episodes to go.  But I've seen everything from season 2 thus far.  haha

Everyone is in closet-cleaning mode it seems. I got rid of a lot of clothes when I moved in with BF months ago...but I haven't had a closet to but my clothes in. Whatever I put in my dresser in my old place, went in my dresser here, but I still have no place to hang all my stuff that needs to be hung. I'm getting tired of seeing my clothes, draped on hangers STILL sitting on top of a storage bin in our room. Makes me almost feel like I'm in an episode of Hoarders. Granted, it's not THAT bad, but I hate looking at it!

Good for you Paige. And congrats, Mutley :-)

Just finished cooking after a morning of prepping for a friend's visit next week. Made a bunch of calls to local attractions and then to hardwares - I'll be installing new furniture in the guest room between today & tomorrow. Sipping on some lemonade now then I go to buy some paint :-)

Loopy, I am selling my really good items on ebay.  Need to make some $ to put towards 'my' new master bathroom.  The rest are going to the goodwill for a tax deduction.

Christi, why don't you have any closet space?  That would piss me off royally.

I will say that I knew DH really got me when I called him about a rental townhouse and told him that the master bedroom had his and hers closets.  He responded "Hers and hers?"  Swoon.

Paige, this was before we had ever lived together.  When we found our current place, he immediately claimed the hall closet as 'his' and gave me the large closet in the master and the 2 other bedroom closets.

Kathleen, those are exactly the clothes I got rid of.

Now, my shoes are another story.  Those are not going anywhere!

Sounds like a great idea.  I hope that you picked up I was totally kidding about sending clothes. I would be super creepy if I wasn't. Actually second hand clothes kind of make me squirm. I'm kind of snobby about that. I won't buy clothes at second hand stores. I am not at all saying anything negative about people who do buy second hand clothes, its just not for me.  Good luck with the selling!

It's okay Loopy. Just send all your clothes for me to buy on consignment. I buy almost everything consignment these days. I have expensive taste and can't afford to buy it new. But I am choosy. Like, right now I am wearing a pair of Banana Republic seersucker trousers that look brand new, but I got them on clearance rack at a consignment shop for $5 this weekend - score! Buying nice things on consignment means looking a LOT and only buying less than 50% of the time, only when you find a nice find. Shopping to me is usually just looking. <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-money-mouth.gif" border="0" alt="Money mouth" title="Money mouth" />

I need a new closet for shoes. I've bought 4 pairs in the last week and my closet is already at capacity in regards to shoe area. The only shoes I ever throw out are worn out flip flops.. and they're usually two summers past their expiration.

The clothes you would have wanted to buy from me would have been the ones I was buying 5-6 years ago when I didn't give a second thought to living off of plastic money.  Since then I have gotten a lot more economical with my shopping habits. Pretty much most of all my clothes are bought deeply discounted at department stores but usually none of the big/ expensive brand names - even on clearance I'm still too cheap for them.

I have looked at consignment shops around here and they never really seem to have much. Unless I was looking for something for an 80's party or Kmart clothes. I think you are lucky living out on the coast. I think a lot more people there have a lot better style and buy nicer clothes to begin with than they do here. Styles seem to make it here a while after they have been out and popular on the east coast. That is something I definitely picked up on my 2 years in Boston.

Oh it does sometimes, especially when he wants to complain about the room looking cluttered. I then remind him that if he gave me a closet, it'd be taken care of. I don't think I should have to go through HIS crap myself. He has a closet in the bedroom but it's not very big (the biggest one is in the hall) and fits all of his hanging clothes and that's about it. The hall closet is filled, floor to ceiling, with old stuff, boxes of magazines, electronics that may or may not be broken, unopened packs of bedsheets that his mother bought him that he didn't like, etc. He lived here with his best friend for 4 yrs, and for two bachelors, they didn't do so bad with keeping up with the place..... or so I thought, then I realized they just shoved it all in that closet.

I'm finally giving in today. I'm going to start pulling stuff out and if it seems to have sentimental value, I'll put it to the side for him to sort through. As far as the unopened packages of sheets and things like that, I'll put that in a box to donate. I know he won't mind. The electronics, I'll find out if they work and if not, I'll probably donate those incase someone out there could fix it up and use it. I finally got him to agree to help with this this weekend, but like I said, it's our first weekend together at home in a long time...needless to say, I don't want to be cleaning closets. However, since I will be doing the majority of the work, that huge hall closet will be mine! ;)

Loopy, I knew you were kidding.  Hehe.  However, when I had lots of girl roomies, I would let them go through my discard pile before getting rid of it.

Kat, I view consignment and goodwill differently.  Is that just me?

Paige, closets were a priority in every place I have ever lived.

    I want!

DH is possibly going to build this for me.
