We actually used a Laurie Sarah ring as our inspiration for the ring we designed ourselves:

Thanks! BF and I like the idea of an emerald - it's my birthstone, and green has been my favorite color since as long as I can remember.

@Sparkles - I totally agree. I LOVE rings with color. That tanzanite ring is beautiful!

ETA: @Elle - Is that the moisannite one? I love that one too.

I love colors as well. I would love a sapphire ring, but BF and I have talked about it and he prefers plain diamonds.

@GPB:  It is moissanite. 

That's another reason I really liked the idea of yellow sapphires...  I figured they would make the moissanite look less yellow by comparison... and it worked!  Plus, I love the unique-ness of yellow stones.

The ring that I have is my dream ring. I was luck enough to get exactly what I want. My ring was designed after the Tiffany Legacy ring (click). As you can see my ring is pretty close to the Tiffany one only I like the cut of my center stone better.

If money were no object, I'd probably pick something like this:


It's an art deco-inspired ring. 2.8 carat diamond surrounded by 1.1 carats of royal blue sapphires and 0.16 carats of more diamonds. The price tag is $10,000- not as outrageous as some rings out there but for sure out of budget. But I do love the style. I'd either choose one like this or go really overboard and go for the Harry Winston blue diamond.

BF and his Mom liked this for me. But he told me it hold less than a carat and I'd like at least a carat. Because I'm greedy like that.

Its a purple sapphire! I'm kind of obsessed with the color purple (to put it mildly), which does tend to irk the BF. I know he would never in a million years get me a purple engagement ring, but, if we're just day dreaming...

Indeed.  We contacted several jewelers when we were ready to get started, and they were our favorites and the quickest to respond.  I worked with Beth, not Joe, though.  She was great, other than accidentally sending me the shipment notification instead of BF (I wasn't supposed to know when the ring was finished).

I didn't know you were getting your ring remade.  Are you getting something totally different?
