Update on House

I got an offer on my house last night! The guy called after the open house. It's an unusual offer and I'm going to counter today. Bf had some good ideas on counter offers.

Only issue... we expected the house to take longer to sell. I'm not sure he's ready for me to move there in 30 or 45 days. He's a guy - he thinks I can read his mind. To him, I already "live" there because I'm there 50% of the time as it is.

I think I'm just freaking out a little because now it's REAL. I'm really leaving this city and the friends I love. Once I'm with bf later this week, I will be so relieved that it's REAL. Funny, eh? Crazy time emotionally!

Wow! An offer already?!  I know how you're feeling emotionally, even though you're a step ahead of me..  I'm getting ready to put my house on the market and I've been researching employment opportunties where my FI lives.. so I too have those moments when it hits me that it is REAL and that I'm leaving a job I love and have been at for 7 years and a state that I've lived in my entire life.  But, on the other hand, I have always wanted to relocate so I am extremely excited about moving..! Oh and not to mention I won't have that dreadful 10 hour drive between my FI and myself!

Okay, enough of me mumbling... I hope you get good news from your counter offer!  Good Luck!!!!

Soon2be... 10 hour drive? You make me VERY grateful that I live in a city with direct flights to almost anywhere. It's about 2 and half hours from my bf's living room to mine, counting time at the airport and the flight. I guess I'm lucky! The drive when I move will be almost 9 hours but I've done a move of 20 hours and another one of 11 hours before, so this is relatively easy. Once - not a bunch of times like you've had to do though!

Yes.. It's a 10 hour drive.. It's not THAT bad of a drive, I just tend to get extremely anxious on my way down there LOL  And yes I'm totally jealous of your direct flights!  I could fly from St Louis to New Orleans but he'd still have to drive to NO to pick me up...

    Thanks gals!
Kat - I've found a pottery class that looks cool. I've also found some good volunteering opportunities. It will be easier to sign up for this stuff when I'm there full-time - it's a little tricky now. It will be exciting!

Here is my advice, take it or leave it. Since you got an offer so quickly, if it was me, I'd be pretty sure that my counter offer included everything I wanted, not something that will just close the deal. Since you have time, there is no reason you should settle for an offer unless it's a good one.

Now if you want to sell it based on this offer, go for it and congrats!!! GL

KD - You ROCK. I was so tempted last night to just take the offer and run. I am torn between being "fair" and getting the most I can out of the deal. The offer presented is "fair" - but obviously he wants it, and it's business, so I will counter. I don't want to be greedy. Fair is fair. But I'm losing money in this deal regardless (knew it going in - I haven't owned this place long enough to have much equity) so I need to limit the blood flow as much as possible.

    Congrat! That's awesome!

Now don't you kind of want to rub it in the face of that chick from a few weeks ago who was being rude and assuming it wasn't going to sell and that and open house didn't mean anything?

That's amazing! And don't stress the move - if possible, think of it as a huge adventure! It can be really exhilarating to just pack up and go somewhere new - and you have BF waiting for you : )

Funny - I thought of her. But I don't want to count my chickens before they actually hatch! I'm just glad the market is doing well enough here for me to see ANY action.

It's not what I do for a living but I recently bought a house and have a good friend in the business. I'm really interested in real estate. I can't seem to respond to your PM at work but I'll keep trying and respond as soon as I can.
