Prom Dress

Someone asked to see my Cinderella prom dress... Sorry, I don't own a scanner, so these are pictures of pictures out of my high school scrapbook. Don't mind the captions :)

BTW... I want to see everyone else in their prom attire!

Can't be Cinderella without the glass slippers!

Yeah, That is my corsage that took up my entire lower arm.

Re: Prom Dress

Oh, and since I had it made at a bridal gown shop (which they considered it a custom wedding gown), my dad told me I had to wear it the day I got married for the price he paid. When I got engaged, he reminded me that I *already* own a gown... LOL! Silly dad!

Your dress is a Cinderella dress!!! So beautiful!!! I love the pic with your shoes!

I made this dress for my senior prom.  It was a lot of fun to make it! I thought it would be awesome to wear fuschia shoes with this color of blue! All my nerd friends didn't believe that the material was Acetate!  I have no good pic of the dress, but it has a sweeheart neckline and ruched all the way.  I also wore my grandma's fur shawl thing for the pictures.

You made your dress?! That is awesome! And I love the fuschia shoes!

I did make it, I tried making everything in high school.  I was horrid at making every day clothes haha.  I was really good at pillow cases and anything involving a purchased sewing pattern.

OMG I WAS THE ONE WHO ASKED TO SEE IT! AAHHH!!!

Seriously, I LOVE it. It really DOES look like Cinderella. Wow.

Okay, I'm gonna try to post my prom pic up. I've never posted a pic here so bear with me...

I love the color of your dress, Amsybot! Your dress is pretty stunning as well Ember. I made my senior year prom dress too! I don't have any pictures with me though. They're all on my computer which I won't have until tomorrow. I'll post it when I get my computer back. Mine was a big blue dress reminiscent of a Southern Belle. I originally wanted to make a Civil War dress out of the costume section of the pattern catalog until my mom talked me out of it. Probably for the best, because I'm not sure all of its layers would have fit in the car.

Jordyana..I love the pink! It looks really flowy at the bottom! Like it was fun to twirl around in!

It was flowy! Unfortunately, I did very little dancing at my prom. The dance floor was large enough for about 30-40 people, meaning most people never got on the dance floor. Honestly, the actual prom wasn't that great...the best part was dressing up, haha! I loved post prom, though.

When I went to get my prom dress and I wanted a ball gown, the workers actually told me that I shouldn't get one. I'm 5'1" and they said that if a short person buys a ball gown it will make her look shorter and, well, larger. Pfft, I loved my dress anyway. =p

Sparkles... My dress had 27 layers in the bottom, plus a huge slip. I'll see if I have pictures of us trying to fit the dang thing in the car. Trust me, it was NO fun to dance in! It was too heavy! LOL!

Jordyana, I love your hair and the "flowiness" of the dress! Why in the world would anyone think it a good idea to have prom with such a small dance floor?! I come from a small town, yet our prom had three dance floors and not enough people to fill them.  At least you still had fun at your prom!

Sparkles, I have ALWAYS wanted to make a victorian bustle dress!!!! *High five* to you for wanting to make a historic gown as well!!! And kudos on making your prom dress!

Haha, I'm sorry, but that's hilarious. Must've been a pretty big dress!

I don't have any pics of me trying to fit in the car, but I DO have a pic somewhere of my parents trying to help me into my dress. It had a corset in the back and there's an awesome pic of my dad tying it up while I held my boobs up. XD

Wow.  Everyone's dresses are gorgeous!  Mom has the pictures of my Junior prom, but I hated it.  I spent the entire night avoiding my date because he creeped me out.

Senior year, I was in Germany, and they don't have prom.  BUT, I took dance classes, and after the first class they have "Abschluss Ball", where everyone dresses up and shows off the dancing that they've learned.  And my dress was pretty phenomenal:

Have you guys seen prom dresses lately though? Or rather, any high school formal. It's depressing.

It's pretty scary how today's look.  If I had tried to leave the house in one of those "backless, strapless, sideless, stomachless, shorter than my booty shorts" things, my father would have killed me.

My senior prom Dress wasn't too amazing.  i liked my junior prom way better (don't judge there were 30 people in my class total.  They needed more people)

Yes.  That is me and the BF.  For our senior prom.
This is the junior prom.  Before I was dating the BF

It had a really pretty neckline sadly not shown here.

I love everyone elses dresses :)  I can't believe some of you girls made your own.  That is pretty amazing :) Princess theme seems to run strong here :)

When I was in college I bought one of those types of dresses for a fraternity formal... My mom knew about it, but she told me if I showed pictures to my dad she'd deny that she bought me the dress. My FI  begs me to wear it everytime we go someplace formal. I keep trying to explain it is too trashy for a 30 year old to wear it now... 21 year old = fun. 30 year old = trying too hard to look 21.

OMG CINDERELLA!! hahaha I love it!!

Okay...so I'm here in red.  Please note how I'm leaning AWAY from my date.  I broke up with him a few days later.  He was annoying as BALLS. Also, my friend Meg (the ginger) is wicked.  She brought me chicken and beer after the move this weekend.  That's love.

Like I said, mine was in 2000. Kind of hard to believe that it was 11 years ago. Do you still have the Cinderella dress?

  • edited December 2011
I do still have the dress. I've worn it 2 or 3 times since. My cousin got married, and I played harp for the cocktail hour. Her color was purple, so she told me to wear it. One of my girlfriends got married, and it was a Halloween wedding. The bridesmaids dressed as Disney Princesses. I was obviously Cinderella. :) Haven't worn it in probably 5 years.
