Not Engaged Yet

confused on early planning

hey so my bf told me that he might propose in the next few months and that he wants me to start planning now since we are both in college. he thinks that this will work because then when we get busy with school we wont fall behind in planning. im no so sure about this. do you think it is a good idea or not?

Planning a wedding doesn't take as long as you are lead to believe by the wedding industry. Don't start planning until you get engaged - it just isn't necessary. We planned our wedding in under 10 months, and I'm in grad school full time and my husband works 50-60 hours a week. Once you get engaged you will be able to figure out a time line that works for you in terms of balancing planning and going to school. Just tell your BF you'd prefer to wait until he proposes. Good luck.

What's the rush? Just because you're engaged doesn't mean you NEED to plan anything right away. And I highly doubt your BF said "hey, I'm gonna propose soon..so I think it's a good idea to start planning RIGHT NOW"

The whole point of an engagement is to plan the wedding. If you start planning before that point you start to rob yourself of some of the experience of being engaged. I know it's tempting and a lot of us have been there before but there is never a need to pre-plan.

When you get engaged decide between the two of you how long you think you will need to plan and then set a wedding date that is far enough out for you.
