In Response to Re: AW: Have you ever met anybody famous? : I hear he's a total sweetheart... <strong>Gavin DeGraw</strong>'s a sweetie pie too. My mom and I ran into him when he was doing an acoustic set at a music store in Charleston. He split a Caesar Salad with me. LOL Apparently, I'm a celeb magnet...LOL

I met him at summerfest in Milwaukee last summer, he was wasted... I think it has become a serious problem as of late especially with the story coming out about his being beat up.

I don't remember this, because I was little, but I grew up down the street from "Bow Wow," and apparently my brothers used to play with him and everything. Of course, that means I also went to the same school as him.
Oceana, your Renee story is awesome. Also, where did you go to school in Charleston? The C of C? Charleston is my favorite place in the world -- BF and I were there again this summer (stayed in a condo on Folly) for a week. Bliss.
    Posted by LivLeighton
Yep, CofC alum, right here. :) God, I loved living in Charleston...the food, the atmosphere, the houses, the gardens, the nightlife...I just loved it. I keep dropping little hints to the DH about maybe moving there someday...I think I've got him about halfway warmed up to the idea. :)

Folly's fantastic...we used to go out there on the weekends and bake ourselves to a crisp. The DH and I try to get up to Charleston at least once a year, and the Thanksgivings we have with my family, we all just meet in Charleston and have turkey day there.

God, I hope not. :( He was seriously the most down-to-earth kid when I met him. He was walking around talking to people before the set he did, and he ended up sitting down at the table my mom and I were at and split a salad with me and talked for a good 20-30 minutes. Just a nice kid. That's a real shame if he is messed up with drugs/booze now. :(

Oh, I also met M.L Carr because his kids went to my high school (before I was in high school obviously, but my mom worked there), and David Ortiz's kids go to my old elementary school. They are adorable! Side note - a friend of mine got bitched out by David Ortiz's wife at a Sox game, because they happened to get seats near his saved section and she tried to tell them to move because she wanted more empty seats around her. I guess she isn't very nice.

ETA: I went to Bryant (where the Patriots used to practice), and Tom Brady held the door open for a close friend of mine while she was touring the campus in the summer. She said he was really nice and down to earth.

Um, that is awesome. I'm a total James Taylor geek.

I played tennis in high school, and my parents got tickets for me and 3 friends to go to the grand slam jam, where the US Davis Cup team was playing an exhibition match. Andy Roddick was on the team and he was dating Mandy Moore at the time. My friend and I met her in the lobby area and took a picture.

And then, years later, I got a chance to meet Andy Roddick at a bar downtown. (By "got a chance," I mean I walked right up to him and asked for a photo. I know it was tacky, but I wasn't missing that opportunity.) He was hanging out with a well-known local radio personality, who I got to take the picture, lol. Here it is:

    <a href="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/12/12/0cae40de-08c0-4c6e-9cb8-c5a1d97c662d.large.jpg" title="Click to view a larger photo" onclick="return gSiteLife.LoadForumPage('ForumImage', 'plckPhotoId', '0cae40de-08c0-4c6e-9cb8-c5a1d97c662d', 'plckRedirectUrl', gSiteLife.EscapeValue(window.location.href));" class="PhotoLink"><img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/images/store/12/12/0cae40de-08c0-4c6e-9cb8-c5a1d97c662d.medium.jpg" alt="" /></a>

Also, I've never met him, but my brother graduated in the same class as Mehcad Brooks (from True Blood, Desperate Housewives, and that new show Necessary Roughness). They played basketball together freshman year.

Oh, and my brother also played flag football with Drew Brees in middle school! When he was at Purdue, he came back to visit when I was in 7th grade, and we got to meet and hang out with him. I got his autograph on a tiny piece of paper (in pencil, ack!), and have managed not to lose it so far...

I saw Heidi Fleiss at my old job a few times.

I also met Roy Rogers when I was four. His museum was still located in Victorville, CA, and my grandpa was a huge fan so we went for a visit. Roy actually happened to be there on that particular day. My grandpa was so excited, and my dad tried to get me to shake Roy's hand. I was really scared so I wouldn't do anything but stare. We have a picture of the whole family with him.

Also, I did go to school for a bit with someone who is pretty well-known in the adult film industry right now. I don't really want to say who, though, for security reasons.

These are too funny!  Stars -- they're just like us!

A family friend of ours was in Jesse's band on Full House, so when I was 4 or 5 I met John Stamos. I was the star of my Elementary school!  But then for my 16th Birthday my dad took me to New York to see Cabaret, which at the time had John Stamos as the emcee. During intermission, he pulled me up on stage to dance with him.

My SO and I go to Lollapalooza every year and spend too much time looking for celebrities who we know are there. Last year I pointed out someone to him who looked a lot like Alia Shawkat (Maeby from Arrested Development) walking right by us. That night we read she was at Lolla.  Whoops!

That is too bad... I was back stage after his show and he was kinda skeezy and seemed pretty wasted. Plus apparently when he got beat up he was so intoxicated he hardly remembers anything before he woke up in the hospital.

This one doesn't talk about the amount of alcohol in his system, but I'll try to find the one that did...

Its so sad when good people get messed up because of crap like drinking!

    So my few connections
I got to speak to Bernadette Peters over the phone my dad owns a shoe store in the city and she came in a few times and he told her about my love/obsession he called me to tell me she was in his store and I got to speak with her for a few minutes. and i have an autographed pic at home too.

back in '99 or '98 I went on a date or two w/ Constantine Maroullis before he was on Idol and all famous we did a show together. One day I turned on my tv my mom was watching Idol and I was like huh i know him.

I also knew Jesse Eisenberg (& his family) growing up in central NJ and doing theater

I also in july '05 I was online at customs at Gatwick airport going into London and swore in the line next to me was Meryl Streep.  I kept looking over at this woman she had 3 kids w/ her she kept smiling at me.  It looked so much like her and I later looked online to see if she had kids and their ages and it seemed to match up, but I never saw anyone else notice or say anything, how could I be the only one to notice and she is pretty famous.  So to this day I'm not 100% sure.  I may or may not have been smiled at by Meryl Streep

Yes. I work in that industry - part of my job is sometimes assisting celebrities down the press line at red carpet events. Some people that stand out to me are Tim Robbins, Taye Diggs, Rosie O'Donnell, Edie Falco, and Rachel Dratch from SNL.

This past summer, I worked at some film premieres and although I didn't get to "meet" them, I saw the entire cast of Harry Potter talk about the final film on stage. Justin Timberlake, Mila Kunis, and Liv Tyler walked right by me, as did Steve Carrell, Ryan Gosling, Julianne Moore, and Russell Simmons.

ETA: I also saw Jesse Eisenberg at a public library in NYC. This was in 2008 before he was really famous. He caught me staring at him and meekly smiled and waved to me.
