Stoage Beds

The house that we're buying has small bedrooms. I've been looking for a queen size bed with drawers in it so we can eliminate the need for a dresser.

I found THIS on Overstock.com. It's what I want, but I'm afraid the quality will be sub par.

Talk me in or out of buying it.

I would get it! I have no idea what storage beds go for, so I can't speak to the price. However, seems like the only complaints reviewers have are concerning the time it takes to build. If you're handy and you have helpers, I wouldn't think this should be a problem.

LOVE the idea of having all that extra storage. I haven't bought a bed from Overstock, but I did buy my dining set there and it was much better quality that I expected. I feel like I received the quality of an upscale furniture store for the price of JCP on discount!

I really like that! One thing I've found, though, is that those kinds of beds don't allow much "give" below the mattress, and they tend to make my back stiff. I've alleviated that pretty well by adding a memory foam topper to the mattress.

But if that's not a concern, I say go for it! It's super cute and would really maximize your space.

Looks like from the customer reviews that nobody is terribly disappointed with the quality. They don't say it's amazing, but that it's not bad.

My mom had a waterbed frame for 26 years because it had storage under it. She was just talking about it yesterday and how she missed the storage.

I'd be leery of buying it. Especially after reading the review that said it was missing parts. That's weird.

Have you looked at Ikea? They have beds and make insertable drawers for underneath :)

[QUOTE]I ditto the sentiment that those make my back hurt. An ex-BF had a similar one and I hated his bed for that reason. What I do personally is use under-bed storage containers. If you get a bed frame that is high, you can stack them underneath and create the same storage space. This is what I use: http://www.containerstore.com/shop?productId=10009994&N=&Ntt=under+bed+storage . I bought the set of 6 with wheels and they rock my socks.

BF is super-confident that he can build this.

I have no doubt that he is able to build this. He has the knowledge, he knows where to get the parts, he's creative and industrial. I love him to pieces....

BUT, the half-finished toy box in his room that was supposed to be my niece's Christmas present in 2009 makes me doubt him just the teeniest.

You mean you're not OK with a half-finished bed Wrkn? I mean it's the thought that counts, right?

We've got a bed which is an ottoman style so the whole mattress lifts up and the whole of the underneath is storage - it's amazing!!! Everyone I show it to thinks its a great idea. We got it from an ebay shop and at a very good price - but I'm in the UK so don't know what you can get over the pond ;)

I'm eyeing THIS bed from Ikea. I think it will be good for storing some clothes since we won't have much closet space. The only thing I'm wondering is if it would be hard to make the bed since the mattress sits so deep in the frame. I think that's the only thing that might sway me from buying a platform bed.

    So yes, I'd buy it.

I would be leery as well, but it IS awesome! I have major storage issues in our home and our business. Our condo is somewhat small and so is our business and I just feel like there is never enough room. Too bad we bought all of our furniture last year without thinking much about it :(
