not on WW, but trying to make good choices and include more protein and fat in my diet.

BF:  1 egg + egg white, english muffin, whipped butter, coffee (~245 cals)
snack:  1.25 c. fresh mixed fruit (~125 cals)

L:  not sure, maybe Subway or a salad with grilled chicken from Panera.

snack choices:  50 pistachios (~170 cals), 25 cherries (~100 cals), peach (~50 cals), 1 oz farmer's market cheddar cheese (~110 cals)...  pick and choose 1 or 2 of those options.

D:  bangin' grilled shrimp skewers, 8 shrimp (*edit* since I'm using Greek yogurt, it lowers the cals to ~110 for one serving, so ~220 if I have 2 servings), fried brown rice, 3/4 c. (~150), grilled pineapple rings (~50 cals), broccoli (~25 cals)

    dessert:  Edy's popsicle (~50 cals)

I'm hoping to take a mid-pace walk tonight, but it depends on how my back/butt is feeling.  by the end of the day, I've been having quite a bit of pain, so we'll just play it by ear.  I also need to clean the house up...  H has been trying to keep it clean for me, but there's laundry everywhere and the kitchen counters are kind of dirty, you get the picture.  :)

    ETA:  lunch will be
    Chopped Chicken Cobb with Avocado
NEW! All-natural, antibiotic-free chicken, romaine lettuce, tomatoes, Applewood-smoked bacon, Gorgonzola, hard-boiled eggs, all chopped and tossed with herb vinaigrette, topped with fresh avocado.
    from Panera.  570 cals.
  • B: coffee, scrambled egg wrap with spinach, tomato, and avocado
    L: turkey sandwich, yogurt, blueberries
    S: baby carrots
D: beer and happy hour food (the student I'm mentoring is taking her giant end-of-first-year exam today and celebration is in order)

E: I'm going to try the next level in my Pilates DVD series.  I think I aggravated whatever is causing my pain by jogging yesterday, so today I want to try something more low-impact.

<div>I was looking at that recipe earlier. They look/sound SO good! Let me know how they turn out?</div>

  • will do.  I'm using low-fat Greek yogurt instead of light mayo (trying to keep down using processed stuff where I can) so it'll be a little different.  plus, I hate mayo.  win-win for me!

speaking of Greek yogurt, I tried it once and thought it was nasty.  it was plain.  has anoyone tried fruit flavored Greek yogurt, or mixing honey and fruit in plain Greek yogurt?  I don't want to spend money on it if I'm going to hate it, so I need OPINIONS.

aaaand...  I love banana with PB.  I had that as a snack this weekend.  YUM.  I saw you had banana with granola, which naturally made me think of banana with PB.  ;)
  • I'm currently surviving on half tea/half lemonade and a mini bag of famous Amos cookies. I am swamped at work, there is no food in my house, thank you vacation.... So right now i'm at a loss lol. My goal is to hit the gym and do a couple laps on the track and 3000 meters on the rowing machine
  • BF- cup of yogurt and almonds
lunch- bulgar wheat and lemon seasoned broccoli
    snack- apple, may be
dinner- not sure yet probably some pasta and marinara sauce.
snack-  I'm going to try to eat some applesauce, I may have to grab the doritos it's my TOTM..

E- hopefully getting in an abs workout before heading over to church tonight

  • BF: Black tea with sugar, and a GF donut (I know, but it was only 170 cals)
    L: Salad.
D: I haven't gotten that far yet.  Either pasta and sauce or something else healthy.

E: Running tonight.  Probably 2-3 miles.  I'm training for a 5K obstacle course next weekend.

<div>That's smart. I actually love mayo but I never have it. I really like the fruity Greek yogurts. I imagine plain was disgusting. </div>

  • No formal kitchen means my dinners are all over the place.  I had one or two bad food choices this weekend, but I also realized that I lost two pounds. So here's what I think today's meals will be.....

    B: Apple and coffee
    S: greek yogurt
L: Lean Cuisine FF chocolate pudding cup
    S: Watermelon slices
D: Breakfast burrito with egg whites, veggie breakfast patties and a sprinkle of cheese

No exercise..... yes I'm lazy, the weekend kicked my ass.
  • B: Berry smoothie + English muffin
L: broccoli w/ cheese + organic fruit snacks + brownie
D: Probably a salad, with fake chicken for protein
S: If I go work out either a protein bar or Muscle Milk

E: I need to go lift weights.  I've been following my running schedule but skipping strength training for the last week.  Hopefully putting this up here will help motivate me.

  • I love Greek yogurt, but I try to eat it plain and mix it with fruit. All the yogurts have a crapton of sugar added to them unless it's plain or an artificial sweetner. I'll just take it with real fruit. Or put honey on it... which, by the way, is not only Greek but absolutely fricken delicious. Defeats the sugar avoidance... but still, it's amazing.

Breakfast:  two turkey bacon slices, one egg, whole wheat toast, sliced strawberries, & coffee.
Lunch:  No healthy leftovers!  PJ & Honey on whole wheat with a 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese.
Snack:  Carrots. Regrettably I've already eaten them. Does not bode well.
Dinner:  eggplant, pepper, and onion curry on rice (with lite coconut milk).

Workout:  Already burned 620 calories today! Did some walking/running and vigorous calisthenics. I can do 6 whole real pushups before modifying. By the end of the summer, I want to do 12.
  • becunning your dinner sounds delicious
heather- what fake chicken do you use?  I never had any that was good before.

  • Thanks! It makes the boyfriend happy to have curry regularly. It's usually a mix of whatever veggies we have that have to get used. We could make eggplant pizza though... that's also quite yummy.
  • I buy the Morningstar Farms kind.  I like both the chicken patties (click) and the chicken strips (click) on salad.  Actually I like their chicken nuggets and hot wings too.

I don't care for the boca brand so much, they're okay in a pinch.  I really don't like the Quorn brand, but my meat eating boyfriend likes them the best.  I think they taste musty.

<div>Its a blasty blast! It's one of my favorite classes to take besides Yoga! It's a looooot of fun!</div>
  • Tiger- have fun at Zumba

heather- I like the chicken patties every once in awhile.  I've always found their chicken strips to be awful no matter how I tried to cook, them they were rubbery.  I prefer Yves brand of products, Quorn is pretty good too. I find morningstar productions have a lot of preservatives and stuff in them.  I always keep stuff in the freezer for lazy nights for dinner though.
