Oh Facebook...

One of my friends (who just had a baby 3 weeks ago) updated her Facebook status a few days ago to:

"Getting a baby sitter for (babys name) ASAP! Going out to celebrate USC's win... yah baby".

This past weekend:
"Getting a babysitter out for halloween with my future hubby"

Today:
"So happy moms watching baby I need sleep and quality time with the boy"
"Babysitter tonight, need to go and have a drink with girls"

Ugh. That annoys me... poor child. I undersatnad needing to see your friends... but seriously? Please do not announce this to Facebook anymore...Undecided

My comment would be "When was the last time you actually saw your baby!?"

Just hoping this poor child will give more credit to to the sitters rather than to his/her own mother (you know, telling her how she was supposed to be the mother, but the sitters played that role instead). If I were her mother I would say: This is your child, not mine!

I have a friend who will (most likely) be like that. Her baby isn't even a week old yet, and i'm fairly certain she plans to go to the bar this weekend

I agree with you in that everyone needs time to do other stuff.

But what gets to me is, why not just say:
"Going out to celebrate USC's win... yah baby"
"out for halloween with my future hubby"
"I need sleep and quality time with the boy"
"need to go and have a drink with girls"

Because right now, all I see is:
    "Getting a baby sitter"
    "Getting a babysitter"
    "So happy moms watching baby"
    "Babysitter tonight"

With those updates so close together it looks like she has her priorities screwed up.

OP, you know this chick better than we do, but it seems to me like aside from the outings she mentioned, she's probably with the baby all the time and just excited to get a break. I agree that it looks a little suspicious that she posted those all so close together and that she probably should lay off. But hey--at least she's not updating every five minutes about her baby's poo color. Smile

That's okay, the day my friend called me that she found out she was pregnant (for the 4th time) she said, "I guess it's time I actually keep one" and then proceeeded to inform me that she was going to the bar to get black-out drunk as her "last hurrah" because "well, if i didn't find out I was pregnant until tomorrow, I still would've gotten wasted tonight anyways".

THEN, her due date is St. Patricks day, which apparently just gives her more cause to go get hammered, regardless of if she's still pregnant, or her baby is hours old.....

Well, I had a full time nanny. I guess that makes my parents terrible parents and me someone to be pitied.

The first few weeks after having a baby can be really tiring and stressful. If she's with the baby 24/7 and needs some time away, who's to judge? We all parent differently and as long as she is getting a responsible, reliable sitter who she feels comfortable leaving her newborn with, what's the big deal?

I have a friend who left her infant with her mom every saturday (and still does, her older child is 4 and her younger is 13 months) just so she could have some time to rest and get things done, and be alone with her hubby. That time probably saved their marriage.
