40's and ELOPING

Greetings All:

This will be my second marriage, and his first. We were wanting a intimate wedding with just our parents and adult children and grandkids. However, I'm not sure if this is truly going to work out on short notice due to conflicting schedules and being considerate of others. I'm now considering an Elopement and he has agreed. However, I'm stuck. Any suggestions outside of the courthouse, what color should my dress be etc?

Just go shopping & find a dress that you love and don't limit yourself, it's your day you should love how you look on it. Pick a locaton that means something special to you and your Fiance, like a special park, beach, church, etc.heck it could be your own backyard and just hire an officiant to show up & marry you there. Congrats & good luck!!

I think she is absolutely right. There arent really rules to eloping. What about a nice beach somewhere? You could put a cute little flower in you hair, wont have to worry about shoes and you can get a fun beachy dress!

If your parents and families are going to be there (that is, you're not "running away,") why are you calling this an "elopement" ?  I think the words "small private wedding" sound more accurate to describe what you are doing (it sounds sweet otherwise).  But "elopement" has nuances of "doing it in secret because of family disapproval."

My fiance and I are eloping. This is his first wedding but my 3rd (widowed and divorced previously).

I've arranged a wedding for just the two of us. We're taking off for a long weekend and getting married in the botantical gardens in Asheville. I've already bought my wedding dress. The day before we leave I'm having a mani, pedi, and getting my eyebrows done. I found a florist in Asheville to do our bouquet and bout. A cake shop in Asheville is making a small wedding cake for us. I'm having my makeup professionally done and we have two professional photographers who will capture the day. We're going to kick off the day with room service and a couple's massage.

You can make your elopement as big or as little as you want.
