Know What's Grinding My Gears?

I ordered my Christmas cards back before Thanksgiving from VistaPrint.  They showed up a day later - great service!  One problem - the blue low lighting in the picture came out like paint splotches on our faces.  No idea why - it wasn't like a slight blue tint as it was in the picture, it was out and out bright blue portions of our face.  We looked like Avatar characters!

So I called VistaPrint, and they said it was probably a printer error, and that they'd reprint them.  I got them two days later - again, very happy with their customer service.  However, they were STILL blue.  So I called up, and they said it was probably the shiny finish emphasizing the blue faces, so I could pay the $4.50 for a matte finish or change photos and they'd reprint it.  I really liked that photo, so I opted for the matte finish.

This one took about a week to get to me, and when it did - still blue!  UGH!!!!!  So I just called up to get it reprinted with a new photo, and NOW they're giving me the run around.  When their customer service has been top notch thus far, today they're really pissing me off.  I've had to call back 3 times since they keep putting me on hold forever (I hang up after 8 minutes on hold).  GRRR!  And now my Christmas cards will be delivered after Christmas.  At least they say "Seasons Greetings" so it isn't just Christmas... before New Years should be okay, right?  RIGHT?!

UGH!  What's grinding your gears today?

See the blue shadows?  Imagine each of those BRIGHT Avatar blue.  And they don't look like shadows, they look like solid blocks of blue paint.  My BF looked like a mix between Phantom of the Opera and Avatar, with half his face covered.




Hopefully this one comes out better!  No shadows!!!  I do think my arm looks flabby here, though.  Oh well!

That sucks.  I've never actually heard bad things about Vistaprint yet, haha.  I got a sweet calendar from them once, but I like the quality of the Walmart one better. 

Now I'm really curious what's causing the blue Avatar people though.

Good luck resolving this!  And we actually HAVE our Christmas cards but I'm not sending them out till after Christmas because I'm too lazy to.  Basically.

My TA for one of my classes hasn't graded any of my work since mid-November, so when the actual professor looks online, it'll look like I haven't done any work since then. It's not just me - it's the whole section of students with last names M-Z - so hopefully the professor will realize that it's NOT our faults. If I get a bad final grade because of this, I'm going to raise hell.

Shittay deal, man!  That sucks.  I must say though...I love me some Vista Print.  Usually they'll take care of your problems ASAP.  I hope the final one turns out well for you, Cate.

My car is grinding my gears right now.  I hope I don't have to sell a kidney...

Ooooh, I might take you up on that next time!  I'd much rather give someone I know the money and have them at least eyeball the finished product before they send it to me, ya know?  I mean, it's not hard to guess we don't want to look like Avatar creatures.

But I will say VistaPrint's customer service has been overall excellent.  The guy today was a bit of a pill at first, and getting put on hold forever was annoying, but they eventually fixed it and will be sending me a bunch more with a new picture.

So glad they got it resolved! Hopefully these won't be Avatar blue! I've also heard wonderful things about VistaPrint. I'm actually hoping to get around to ordering business cards from them for cheap.

What's grinding my gears is my dumb knee. It hurts and doesn't want to bend and it's raining here and the wind's blowing which makes it hurt worse... dumb knee!

Sorry about your cards, Cate. They are super cute though. I have never had an issue with Vistaprint but I will definitely say never order from MagnetStreet, their prices are absolute highway robbery. Glad you got it worked out!

Nothing is really grinding my gears today. While some things are always annoying me for some reason today is coming along well.

That does sound like a major pain! Glad it is eventually going to work out though.

A lady at work is grinding my gears. I work at a hospital in IT. I really work as Occasional Work Force (OWF). It basically means that I come in when I can and sign in to get paid. Well I OKed it with the guy that I'm currently doing projects for to come in 40 hours. I told him that I am done with school and he explained that he doesn't have the budget to pick me up fulltime but is going to help me to get a good job at a company we work with. So I sent my resume, talked to a recruiter and I'm just waiting to hear back (she told me it would take a few weeks).

Well one of the managers, who works under him has been a super bitch lately. She is just being rude for no reason. She called everyone into our little meeting area to give her notice last week, and called over everyone but me. (I was just on the other side of my cube so I heard it all anyways). But I let it slip cause it wasn't a big deal.

The next day was when a co-worker came over and handed me my present. It had a card attached and the card was signed by every member of the department. Since I opened it alone, I went around to thank everyone. I went into her office to thank her and she says " Oh the card was from us all but the gift was only from R." I was blown away. The card and tag on the thing said "from the IT department." I get that R paid for it, but she gave it as a present from all, and she didn't have to but tried to be nice, so why are you being rude?

She then goes on about how because she is leaving that I am going to have to do some of her work when she is gone. She told me that I am going to have to stick around longer. She knows that I am looking for a new job and apparently wants me to stop that to do her work. She just gets under my skin.

Sorry for the rant all LOL.

I used to post and I normally just lurk but I need to vent.

 Yesterday my FI proposed. I decided that I wanted to wait until Christmas to tell my Gradmother and Aunts in person. I sent a picture of my ring to FSIL and I specifically said "Please don't post anything on facebook, I really want to tell my family in person on Christmas." Well she decided to go against those wishes and post anyways. I know that she posted it because she is excited for us but I am still upset that I didn't get to surprise my Grandmother and Aunts.

-I have been trying to register for the class I failed but it won't let me because I don't have the pre-req. UHHHH YES I DO! I don't feel like dealing with the idiots in the registrars office so I can wait until another semester.

-That real estate offices can have such a hold on a house that they can basically make it unavailable for anyone else who wants to buy it and "steal" it from the bank.

- I didn't get that job because the upper-upper management decided to appoint someone to the position, even though I had the better interview (supervisor's words, not mine)

wow penny that sucks! sounds like many of you are having a rough go right now. blue faces, dumb cards and slow/mean people.

my only gripe is i'm the only one in the office the next two weeks. i do get off this friday and next, but still i'll be the only one. sad face.

That's sucks Penny, but congrats on the engagement!!

Same co-worker that I always complain about decided to tell me and my supervisor that we would do horrible on the librarian assistant exam in February, but that she would get a 100.  

She strongly dislikes that I now have a degree that would allow me to be her boss so she's continually cutting me down now. She told my supervisor flat out that she wouldn't be able to take me seriously as a librarian and wouldn't take directions from me if I did become a librarian at our branch. Ugh...

 The only thing that annoys me right now is the splitting headache that two Alieve couldn't kill.  I rather be at home on the couch hiding.  As for co-workers, mine is trying to force the company to approve his 3 week vacation. Company policy is two weeks straight tops.  He whines and argues for it because he's going to India to visit family which is two days travel and there and two days back.  Policy is policy, if we all could do it then I go visit my family in Vietnam.

OP I wish you would've posted this earlier! The drug store photo department that I work for makes these cards quick and relatively cheap. We have been cranking them out. Hope it all works out!
