So here's the deal: long story short, I haven't selected anyone to be in my house party yet. I don't want to ask just a couple of my girlfriends to be in my house party while neglecting everyone else, and it also seems inconvenient to ask close family or friends who want to help me get ready before the ceremony to be in the house party. Is it really necessary to have one or more people make sure people sign the guest book and hand out programs before the ceremony and reception?
I have another idea as well. My groom did select a couple men to be ushers. Would it be out of character to have them "double" their responsibilities and make sure that people sign the guest book and hand out programs during the times when they're not walking people to their seats?
