Yay for Thanksgiving

So I know how y'all like a good recipe, well I came across a gem.  Well my Mom had it bookmarked and I saw this person last night on the food network.  She beat out Bobby Flay in the throw down. Or whatever that show is.  Anyway I love her recipes and thought maybe you might want to check her out.  Andplusalso, I love her snark she is witty and I like what she has to say.

Clicky

She also blogs about her horses, and other things, but her recipes are freakin amazing!

Some of those look pretty good.

I have to add that I HATE BOBBY FLAY. He just seems like a total douche wibbler. He was an ass in a dream I had once.  I can't watch his shows and when he's on Iron Chef, I always hope the challenger wins.

I was glad that she won, he does look like a total douchetwat.  I am cooking the turkey this year so I'm stealing her recipe for that.  Oh and the pumkin creme pie.

There are links added if you wanna check them out.  Be aware, the pumpkin cream pie will probably add like 4 pounds instantly.

Please excuse the horrible spelling in the link.

    Pioneer Woman is a god.

Turducken is also delicious.  My dad and his BFF made it one year.  NOMMMM

    a) Seconding the Bobby Flay comment. He seems like a twatwaffle.

    b) I *may* worship Pioneer Woman as a demigoddess.

We're not doing your typical Thanksgiving dinner this year. We're spending the day driving up to Charleston SC - my parents are getting in sometime that night, and my brother/his GF are rolling on on Friday morning. We're doing our Lowcountry Thanksgiving (aka. lots of shrimp) sometime over the weekend. To be honest, I'm not overly into Thanksgiving to begin with, so our unconventional Thanksgiving is working just fine for me.

FI and I do have a Thanksgiving potluck every year, which will be tomorrow. We invite the same group of friends over every year - we provide the turkey and pies, they bring the side dishes. As I'm on Fit in My Dress Diet at the moment, I'm actually making side dishes this year...I literally ripped everything straight out of Cooking Light magazine. At least I can indulge a little and not bust my jeans.

Oh my goodness, how I have I not heard of this before?  This is amazing!

Printed the Pumpkin Cream Pie, the Apple Pie, and the Soul Sweet 'Taters recipe.  I don't brine my turkey usually, so that's not my style, but oh man!  I could get lost in this lady's recipes.

My favorite part?  When talking about making the graham cracker crust for the pumpkin cream pie, she says this:

"Next step–and this is very, very important: remove one heaping spoonful of crumbs, then place it in your mouth. Eat. Smile. Feel no guilt.

    Repeat as needed."

I think I'm in love Innocent

We're brining our turkey for the first time this year. I hear it makes them super duper juicy. Will let y'all know how it turns out.

Another trick we learned last year is to cook your turkey in a turkey bag upside down - you won't get that pretty roasted turkey ready for tableside carving (it'll be smashed on top), but we carve ours ahead of time and bring the carvings to the table. We did this last year and good lord, it was juicy.
