Let`s play a game!

Happy Thursday! It seems like it might be a little slow today so let`s play a game - ask a knottie anything!  Post on here and ask other peeps any questions you want.  Then, hopefully, those ladies will come on and answer for you.

RULES: Please don`t make them rude or anything that someone may be embarrassed to answer.  Fun questions are good, or anything that you really want to know.  You can also ask more than one question or ask multiple people questions.  Let`s keep it light and have some fun, ladies!!

I`ll go first:

Cate - What exactly do you do for a living? I see you talk about all these meetings and world travel and such but I'm curious as to what your job is.  It's in events, is it? Or am I totally off the ball?

All engaged ladies: How is your planning going??

To get to the states it's an *easy* 6ish hour drive.  I drive through Nova Scotia to New Brunswick then through New Brunswick to Calais, ME.  I actually do this drive (without crossing into the States) about once a month to visit a friend that lives on the boarder.

Loopy- I haven't really planned a thing. Really all I have is the Minister, which I need to pay a deposit on soon. Other than that, nothing planned but there's not much to plan.  Just goin on the beach having the ceremony taking pics around there with lighthouse and stuff then we are all just gonna go eat dinner somewhere.  Go out and party that night.

i must be an anti-bride because i have learned that i ABHOR wedding planning... or maybe i just abhor all the pressure.  i don't know.  does someone want to do it for me??  :)  i've already gained AT LEAST 5 pounds since we got engaged at the end of october, just from stress/emotional eating...  ack!

I do work in Events! 

I work for a magazine that is focused on Latin American financial markets, and we host seminars and conferences around the world.  My job is to write the agendas for our seminars and conferences, figure out who should be speaking at each event (basically, who would people pay to come see talk about these topics), invite the speakers, coordinate with sponsors to figure out what they expect out of the conference subject matter and who will be speaking from their company, collect all their professional biographies for our event booklet, and then go to the events and make sure they run smoothly. 

This past year I went to Mexico City in February, London in June, Lima (Peru) in July, and Merida (Mexico - not far from Cancun) in September.

This upcoming year I'll be going to Mexico City in February, Canada twice in March/April (don't know when, where, or about what yet), Abu Dhabi & Dubai a few months later, Cartagena (Colombia) in July, possibly New Delhi in August, then some random state in Mexico in early September, followed by Beijing in late September (hopefully - I studied abroad in Shanghai and desperately want to go back to visit - I've had about a half dozen dreams recently of going back to China!).

I got Gold Status with American Airlines this year, so hopefully next year I'll get Platinum!

CDE: How old were you both when you started dating?  Was he your first kiss, since you both were probably very young when you started dating I assume?

We were 14 when we started dating. It was both our sophomore year in High School. He was not my first kiss. There was this boy that I dated throughout middle school that was my first kiss. I remember it too, it was in a tree house when I was in 6th grade. BF was my first lay though.

She's evil. She fears nothing and fights with the lab ALL DAY long. Sometimes she hangs off his face and makes him cry. She is doing really well with potty training and her tricks though. I iz a proud momma.

EDIT: I'm slowly working on my bachelors in accounting. I will have my associates as soon as I turn in my graduation paper, it only took me 5 1/2 years!

this is the cairn right?  my cairn does the same thing with our bigger dog...  she bites his ears and wrestles him and makes him cry. 

what did you end up naming her?

Yes ma'am. She's more of a jowl biter w/ Binx but with FI's poodles she hangs off their ears.  We ended up naming her Riley and it fits her perfectly. According to the interwebz, it means courageous and she definitely is. She is definitely NOT a Lucy or Ruby or any of the other cutsey names we had.

It's basically the study of media, and how it affects our culture. I know that doesn't answer anything. Basically, there are three ways to go about it: You can put your emphasis on Culture, which is the study of sexuality, gender and race; Media, which is the study of all types of media history - film, television, radio, Internet, video installation; or Screen, which is solely the study of cinema.

Paige... You should go back and just work on a class at a time! The best advice anyone ever gave me was that the time is going to pass if you are in school or not in school, so if you want to be in school, you might as well do it! My mom told me that while I was considering going back. She told me 5 years from now you can have a doctorate or you can still be dreaming about it. That made me sign up for classes.

No that totally makes sense. I'm a communication studies person, so we are always studying culture, media, and interpersonal stuff. I've just never heard it being called culture and media studies, we just lump it as communication.

Haha, yes, in any other college it would be called Communication, but I go to an arty, liberal arts college in New York City so it has to be called something different. [/sarcasm]

I'd love to but in order to do it we need to pay off some of FBD's student loans.  I'm not financially prepared to go back...yet.  I'm going to take some time, get married, buy our house and then meet with the woman that runs the program to see what I can do PT or distance.  Once those are done I can re-evaluate and see what's left.
