I hate that you people can buy wine at the store.  We HAVE to go to a liquor store.  And they're only only open 9 or 10 p.m.

Mass?  As in Massachussets?  Hate to burst your bubble, but everywhere I've been in Mass had beer & wine sold only at a liquor store.  And in most places, Blue Laws are still in effect so they're all closed on Sundays.

Different states have different laws.

Paige - stop in New Hampshire. You can pull off the highway to huge liquor stores everywhere.

And in Mass there is pretty much a Kappy's every 5 miles.

Mass laws have changed. You can but wine and beer at most wal-marts. Also Liquor stores are open on Sundays just limited hours. At least in my area of Mass.

Paige - I remember going to the states, I can't even remember which trip/state it was, and just being in awe of the drive thru liquor store.  Do you have separate beer and liquor stores like in Ontario?

I can vouch for states/stores being different. I was grocery shopping with BFs mom in CA and thought I'd bring wine back to Canada with me. The cashier wouldn't sell me it because I didn't have a local driver's license.  I think his mom ended up buying it for me and giving it to me in the car, it was dumb.

We don't have separate beer and liquor stores.  Although we have a few breweries that have "drive thrus" and they just sell beer.

I miss Newfoundland, where I could get beer at any corner store or gas station at any time of the day! lol

Yes!  Right as you're exiting NH to go to Mass?  I think it's either Rt 93 or 89.  That's the state liquor store - tax free!  My parents buy all their stuff there, always.  Awesome deals!

Funny story - my old office (we relocated a few weeks ago) was right near a hospital.  I was driving by after lunch one day and saw a guy in a hospital gown, dragging an IV tree on wheels, crossing the street from the liquor store.  He had one hand clasping a brown paper bag, the other hand holding his gown shut behind him to hide his naked backside, and was pushing the IV tree with his shoulder.

Pathetic and hilarious!

They're lobbying right now to sell wine in grocery stores in NY.  That would be excellent as the liquor stores jack up the prices so much.  You can buy beer there though, unlike PA which makes you go to a distributor.  NJ has weird laws too.  Every time we have to buy alcohol when we visit FI's family we go to this sketchy bar/liquor store.  It's like such a bad idea to have people drinking in a store full of glass bottles!

Do y'alls Targets carry wine? The ones here now have little boxes, they look like juice boxes, with just a single serving, so you're not opening a whole bottle for one glass. Brilliant!

Wow.  I'm so used to all stores carrying booze.  Even the grocery stores in my very small home town did. And all of the grocery stores and WalMarts in St Louis did aswell.  Shoot, down here (as I've said a million times) they have the drive-thru daquiri shops LOL

But yes, you can't beat a $2.97 bottle of wine!

Desert, my BF eyes the juice boxes of wine every time we go to Target. They are cute.

Do they still have two-buck-Chuck at Trader Joe's? Although it's probably not $2 anymore.
