Son of a Bitch... I got in! Woohoo!

I was planning on graduating in the Fall. There is one class that I have to take before I can graduate and you have to be a senior to take it, it's not offered in the summer so I have to take in the fall. But there are only 18 spots available. I checked this morning and 4 people had already registered, then I checked again just now and 4 more people registered. So now there are only 10 spots available and I don't register until Wednesday morning. If I can't get into this class I have to push my back graduation a whole semester.

/rant.

    Oh I hate classes like that!  I know the likely hood of you getting in is slim but I'll be rooting for you.  I wouldn't want to push my graduation date back.  I already did  twice and that's 2 more than I can handle.  Good luck!

    Talk to the professor.  Then call and demand that they force add you to the class due to financial constraints you have to graduate in the fall.

    That usually does the trick.  Good Luck!

    Ooh I hate it when things like that happen. Can you contact your advisor? They can often pull strings in cases like this (especially if you're not able to get in...often when it's going to delay your graduation, they manage to find one extra spot for you).

    Maybe you can ask the prof to let one more person in the class? I know some profs are meanies when it comes to letting students in (hahaha, like me, but I teach a freshman class that has 50 sections of it offered), but if you explain it was closed before you could even register, maybe they'll let you in?

    I will try talking to the professor if it's already closed. I've had her before and she likes me so maybe she will be awesome and let me in. This is the first time I've been worried about getting into a class.

    Usually, yes. But my plan was to take summer classes so that the fall would be my last semester and I would finish early so I don't have the priority registration that the other people graduating in the fall do.

    I'm just making a plan B schedule just in case things don't work out with this class.

    I agree with everyone else. Someone should be able to let you in. 

    Also, maybe you could take the class at another college to tech school nearby during the summer or next semester and have it transfer in?

    Let me ask though, does your school not let those closest to graduation register first? Ours is set up so seniors get to register first.

    They got by how many credits you have. I have 96 (including this semester) I need 120 to graduate, so there are people ahead of my who don't need to take any summer classes to graduate in the fall so they register before me. I am registering before a lot of people but only seniors take this class so that doesn't help me much if I'm behind them.

    Oh no! I agree with everyone else and try talking to your advisor and/or the professor about getting in if it's full... hopefully it won't be and you'll be able to get in though! Good luck!

    You should technically be ahead of most seniors though if you are only going for the fall and they have fall and spring. 

    I am in a really similar situation you are. I have 10 summer hours and then 12 next semester and I am done. We have to have 124 to graduate... not fair.

    That happened to me too. I had to email the professor and ask if he would over ride me and put me in the class. He was a prick and I had to push my graduation back a  semester back for ONE class! Try emailing him/her and see, most will because most have a heart! Good luck.

    I'm hoping that this is the time that my idea to take a bunch of classes with my department head so she knows who I am will come in handy.

    If you don't get into the class, and can't get a hold of the professor, you can try doing what I always did in law school for really small classes that filled up before I could sign up...just show up to the first day of class. I've done that with classes limited to as little as 10 people and managed to get a seat because some people (jerks) over register for classes and then drop them during the first week. Usually those people never show up to the first class, or drop it right after the class, and then I'm already there to swoop in and take the seat! Good luck.

    I literally had to stalk a professor for the first week of my last semester in order to get into his class; I know how stressful it is.  So glad it worked out for you!
