Not Engaged Yet

Hey-o!

Hi ladies. I am back. Had a really tough week but I'm trying to get back into the swing of things. I have a job interview at 230 today, so hopefully things will start to turn around.

So what did I miss while I was away? I tried to go back and take a peek, but it was just too hard.

Also- Whoever introduced me to damnyouautocorrect.com, I am forever grateful! I am in tears laughing at my desk.

    I'm glad you're doing okay!

I do hate auto correct... I was trying to tell a friend to meet me in "Brickell" and autocorrect changed it to "Broccoli".

Thanks ladies! I missed you all too, just needed to take some Family time.

Cate- My interview is in Providence. Any times for driving in the city? They have a parking lot, so parking isn't a worry.

Shoot, sorry!  Only just saw this!  Providence is pretty small, and they've fixed most of the highways recently, so traffic isn't too bad mid-day, so you probably got there no problem.  You'll probably have a bit of a drive home if you leave after 4pm, though.  If you can, hang out on Thayer Street or Wickendon Street or at the Providence Place Mall until after  6pm to avoid traffic.

Marley stole my thunder... :) DYAC is the only thing I could think of to cheer you up that day.

It works on every kind of day:
    Co-worker pissed you off? DYAC
Flat tire on the way to work? DYAC
Wore one black sock and one blue sock? DYAC

    Good luck with the interview!

Thanks ladies! I'm back with an update!

Cate- I got in and out just fine, parking was the only problem. They told us to park in their garage, but turns out they just started parking there as a company and haven't gotten all the kinks out so I had to pay! It was annoying.

Monday was the first interview. It was about 10 mins, and they liked me so they called me back for a shadow day, which was yesterday. (Hence why I am just getting back to you'll now.) I went out on the road with this guy Frank. Turns out they start you out as a door-to-door sales person. You go around trying to sell their company to people, which right now is Verizon Fios. You move up rather quickly, and get to manager position within a year, but you have to do the dirty work first. They also have very odd hours, 11-8 everyday Mon-Fri and 11-3 on Saturday.

So needless to say, I got back to the office and they really liked me and offered me the job, however I am planning on declining. It is not anything that I was looking for and I also wouldn't be okay with hours. They also don't have any sort of benefits until you make it up to manager. It was all kind of weird.

Andplusalso.. They guy I went with was totally supposed to take me to dinner to discuss the job in the mid-afternoon, and never did. I was pissed, and hungry because I hadn't eaten all day.

    On to the next one!

LOL. I did post a thread a few weeks ago just to tell anyone who didn't know about DYAC, but maybe your post was what drew cde's attention to it...?

DYAC rules and I am going there now.

Cde, sorry to hear about the suck-o job offer. They sound extra-lame. Next time will be better! Reminds me of a story...when I first moved to MN and was looking for a job, there was a sales position posted on Craigslist with no specific information about the company, but it did say $15 an hour and no cold-calling. I had to go through and set up a whole appointment and get directions before I found out that VMA was Vector Marketing something, which is who you work for if you're selling Cutco knives. You actually have to go around trying to sell knives to your friends and then try to get their friends' contact info to try to sell to them, too. UGH. Three days of unpaid training, and that attractive $15/hr number? Only good if you're actually in someone's home doing a presentation. Yup.
