AW: First fitting

Well, I didn't take pictures, but I went in for my first fitting today. And you could have knocked me over with a feather when I found out how much alterations were going to cost! Holy wow! They ended up taking the dress in about 2 inches on either side (4 inches altogether), I needed a one inch hem (I'm glad I ordered the extra 4 inches in length), the dress needed a bustle with 6 points. I wanted to cry when I saw the alterations bill, because the dress is like all lace, they were able to charge an arm and a leg.

And, I hated all the jewelry I bought to go with the dress.

My mom picked up her dress... And it fit like a glove. She needed no alterations whatsoever! I wish I had her body type!

So, since I didn't take pictures, here is old pictures of me in the dress the first time I tried it on.

That is poo that the alterations were so much, but you are going to look AMAZING! You look super skinny like me, and I think it'll be worth it to have a wedding dress that fits like a glove.  I have yet to have a piece of clothing that fit me right, unless I made it myself (I'm not counting the stretchy clothes that will fit anyone like a glove, I'm talking peacoats and jeans).  I don't know if you have these problems, but I am bad at judging people's sizes in general.  So ignore me if I'm rambling or being offensive (I am trying not to be, I hate it when people comment on how skinny I am all the time).

How exciting that you had your first fitting!!!!!

I am super skinny. My dress is a size 0. And it literally fell off the first time I tried it on. I wanted to cry! I use to get so frustrated with people telling me I am skinny, but now I'm just use to it.

I would love to put on extra weight, but it's just not in the stars for me. I have been trying to gain weight for the wedding, but I have finally given up. I have a super high metabolism, and it prevents me from gaining weight.

I think we are crazy metabolism twins! I had such a hard time finding a dress because EVERYTHING made me look too skinny!  Your dress looks so good on you though and you are going to look amazing at your wedding!   I do understand the frustration with wanting to gain weight by the wedding, though.

I totally understand. I felt like every dress I tried on made me look like a little girl playing dress up. And then my collarbone just looked ridiculous in a lot of dresses.

Snorwo... I'll cut my legs off under the knees and give you some additional height :) I'm 5'10. My FI is 5'11, so I can't wear heals with the dress :(

I typically buy jeans from Delias or Victoria's Secret. Neither place fits perfect, but they do work.
