Monday Workout

Hola! I wasn't around for the weekend and didn't get to do my workouts, but I just finished Chest & Back on my lunch break and will do abs on my next break. And then I am determined to go down and run later because I have decided I'm going to do another half marathon in September!!

What about the rest of you? Did you get to work out this weekend? Anyone have any specific goals for this week?

I did 4 workouts last week, so I"m going to try for 5 this week.

Re: Monday Workout

  • I did not work out at all this weekend, except for an hour  on saturday for dance rehearsal.

After some lunch I am going to do an abs work out.  I have the p90x abs ripper section on dvd,

  • I put this in Bri's thread, but I had a pretty good week. 3 Insanity workouts and a half-marathon. Though the half-marathon has me sore enough to skip today and tomorrow's workouts. I'm planning on doing Insanity tomorrow and Thursday, and then going for a long walk while I'm at my parents house (they have a lot of hills so it makes a walk at least a little challenging).

    Still here and still fabulous!

  • Back and legs on Friday was insane, but I loved it.  The pull up bar made my upper back and shoulder blades sore.  I totally dug Kenpo on Saturday.  Sunday I didn't work out but I was ripping out dry wall in the kitchen and the cycle starts all over today with chest and back and ab ripper X. My biceps were sore to the point I couldn't straighten my arms out.  I felt like a T-rex.
  • No workouts for me this weekend (kind of a weird weekend). I have a four mile run planned for tonight.

Ely- I am so proud to hear you did decide to run one in September.

    Tiger-How did you do?

    DAYAM!

Last week I went running twice and for a long walk once. Not bad considering I was out of town for 3 days, too.

I am starting off this week with a spin class tonight. Can't wait!

  • Its always so nice when running with someone, even if you are just trying to get them through it. My last half was hell. I fractured my foot in my first one in May and trained maybe a total of 50 miles from July-Sept. My legs burned the whole time from not being used to running.

Glad your friend was able to finish and with such a great support system from you!

  • I only made my Monday workout last week. I had to travel for work...so needless to say my diet and exercise routine suffered. I'm getting back on track today though and hitting the gym tonight. My goal this week is to make it to all 4 classes (Mon., Tues., Thurs., Sat.) and hopefully get in some dog walking on the off days.
  • I was sick for most of last week so I definitely didn't do anything.

Today I was planning on taking a 20-20-20 class at the gym, but I got called in to work and since I had to take 2 sick days last week I need to make them up.

In saying that, I took the dogs for a 2.5k walk today, and tomorrow I am getting up early to take a lower body workout class at the gym and possibly Zoomba in the evening if my training workshop gets out on time.

Being able to see a small difference already is motivating me to stay on track. Today I put on jeans right from the dryer and I was able to get them on without struggling, yay! These are smaller pants to begin with, so this happening was amazing and made my day!
  • Danser: An hour of dancing is definitely a workout! : ) You wouldn't happen to know of any good online tutorials or anything to learn how to do a few steps for our wedding would you? We want to learn a few different types, slow and fast. : )

Tiger: That's cool that you paced yourself with your friend. I ran alone mostly through my race and I think it would have helped to have someone with me. I did have mini convos with the people who ran next to me, but that was about it, lol.

Liv: I think that this cold weather really gets to me too. I always do horribly in the cold/winter months and holidays don't help. Good job getting out and going though!! : )

Lyn: You are doing awesome!! How do you do with pull-ups? Can you do them all unassisted? That's my goal, but I am not there yet. I definitely know the T-rex feeling though, lol.

Stina: Have fun on your run! I'm probably going to have to start all from the beginning since I haven't run regularly in forever and the treadmill in the workout room sucks and drags. It should make running on the road pretty easy if I can get used to it though.

I have to do with the assist of the back of a chair like in the video.  My goal is to do at least 2-3 unassisted pull up by the end of this program or before I get married.  Pull ups are so much harder than chin ups.  Yeesh.

I don't know too much about ballroom dancing honestly, I've mostly done ballet, tap, jazz.  BF & I always wanted to do dance lessons together, but with our evening schedules it is a bit hard.

I did find this cool website though

    Anniversary

  • I bought a kinect a couple weeks ago and have started doing the Your Shape 2012 exercises.  Last week was a bad week (only one) because I overdid it and ended up with a cramped calf muscle for 4 days after.  I did 20-30 minutes last night though, and I'll probably do 30-45 minutes tonight.
  • Allusive: I definitely know how traveling can get in the way!! You'll get back at it though! : )

    Quilting: I hope you're feeling better. What's a 20/20/20 class?

Lyn: I can never remember which one is which, but I think the ones where my palms are facing away are harder for me.

Danser: Thanks for the website. I think I'll have to talk to FI about the practicing the position by walking around the room like that!

Alyaki: My mom was thinking about getting a Kinect, but she figures it'll probably end up the same as her Wii, lol. I would LOVE a Wii though. I think those games are neat because they get you to move and you have fun while you burn some calories. So I'd probably like a Kinect too! I hope your calf feels better!!

I started fresh with the marathons training schedule. It started Jan 2 and I have only done two of the runs so far so I need to kick my booty into gear. This 4 mile run is going to be boring today, luckily I have my Ipod. Last week the music was awesome on the regular radio station and my best mile was 8:35 until I ran against the wind and that kicked my butt!

That is an awesome time! My best miles only ever got down to about 9:50 - 10:10. I'd never be able to run without my iPod. I have the Nike+ and can't run without it. And I believe I've mentioned this before, but I HATE wind, lol.

I did just conquer 2 of my fears though!!! I went down and went to the workout room all by myself!! I hate working out in front of other people so I'm always afraid to go, but nobody was in there so I had a nice workout. Second fear conquered was the treadmill. I hate that treadmill. My mom's treadmill is like a hot knife through butter and this treadmill is like a an elephant running through mud, lol. But I managed to stay on for a mile. I also have the "boring factor" going on when I run on the treadmill so it's hard for me to get lost in it, but I'm going to try to stay on longer each day.

After the mile on the treadmill I ended up getting on the elliptical for 30 minutes too. First time I did an elliptical workout too and actually didn't mind it. It's so much easier than any treadmill, but still good cardio.

My next fear to conquer will be going to the workout room by myself and staying even if there are people in there, lol. We'll see how that one goes.

I just started week one last week, I'm on week two now so its chest and back tonight.  I think you're about 3 weeks ahead of me.  I'm guessing you're on your recovery week.  Hi!

[QUOTE]Tiger, I think it's crazy that you can go out there and even run at all if you haven't trained!! Even when I was "a runner," if I didn't run for a few weeks it was hard getting back up into the long mileage again. Go you!

<div>Well, the Insanity has definitely helped my cardio, but it was a good reminder to me that if I really wanted to, I could start doing some 6-8 mile long runs on the weekends without too much of a problem. I think I'll start mixing those in with my Insanity and I'm thinking about maybe doing another half in February or March!</div>

  • Hey Ely, with the treadmill, I've found that putting it on intervals and closing my eyes when I'm listening to music makes it a bit easier to enjoy doing - it's sort of like a walking roller coaster.  (Being creative with how you think about it helps make it a bit more fun.)

Kinect is awesome, but I know for the fact the calorie counter on the game I play is sort of wonky.  Sometimes it'll work perfectly fine, but then other times (like Monday night) it won't register any calories, even though it registers me doing the exercises - it takes a bit of calibration.  Wii is fun, though I think I'd like to get some of the additional pieces for my board for wii fit - doing pushups right on it doesn't work out very well.

Also, my calf is finally feeling a lot better :)
