Birthday Present- Need Ideas!

My best friend's birthday is coming up and I am at a total loss for what to get her. I know this is a little off- topic, since its not about my guy, but everyone else I've asked has said "how about a gift card?"  Seriously?! That's what you get the neighbor for dog-sitting. No.

So, I am begging for a little inspiration. She is in her mid 20's, halfway done with vet school and not excessively into fashion or clothes.

Things I have considered:
-Gift card... kidding, sorta
-A coat for her dog
-Some cool piece of furniture for her apt
-A sno cone maker

Thanks so much in advanced!

I'm not sure if this would go under the giftcard route but check out groupon(dot)com or livingsocial(dot)com. They have daily deals in your area for all sorts of things like salon treatments, bowling, and whatnot from local businesses. This week I bought 4 games of bowling with 2 shoes and 2 pop for $10. I bought my mom a mani pedi for $30 and myself a keratin Brazilian Blowout for $30. Both sites do one deal a day but as you can tell from my week, they're usually pretty good.

Walmart has some of the cutest dog clothes for under $10. I'm getting a girl pup soon and I cannot wait to buy pink dog stuff!

Well, instead of getting her a tangible gift, you could take her out for lunch/dinner or perhaps a mani/pedi/massage at the spa.

THIS.  I think being able to spend time together is much better than just a gift.

Agreed with PP. This summer, I bought dinner show tickets for two of my friends for their birthday. So we went out of town and had a really fun night. They said they liked it more than a normal gift that I probably would have gotten them.

I was just going to suggest checking out Groupon or Living Social.  Ekath, get out of my head!

Seriously, though... I've bought spa treatments, great activities, and exercise classes.  I've become addicted to pole dancing classes that I bought through a Groupon.  I've gotten awesome mani/pedi and massages for super cheap.  I've bought kayaking rentals and jetski rentals for half off.  Seriously, great websites!

Movie tickets for an upcoming movie you both want to see?  A class together for something fun that you enjoy, like cooking or pole dancing (not kidding, if you have a pole fitness studio near you, check it out!).

Bren! Love the new siggy pic! Oh and is that dog in your pic real and not stuffed? I always thought it was stuffed until someone said something about getting a goldendoodle (or whatever it's called) like you.

    hijacking over.

Oh and OP if you give gift cards for dog walking then I would totally be your dog walker! I agree also with the PPs. Spa/mani/pedi would be an amazing gift!

    When is my wedding

    Replying to threadjack ;)

Thank you! I didn't like the portrait sized picture in my siggy. Paige should like this one, it's in the Maritimes! But not NS. PEI. And he isn't stuffed at all! He's my bff's goldendoodle. And adorable! I adopted him pretty much. I'm not allowed pets at my house :( his name is Charlie.

Aww, I would name a dog Charlie if I had one!  I had a fish named Charlie.  And it was I who said that I want a goldendoodle.... so freaking cute!

    My ideas:

board game - you're never too old.

tickets to some sort of event - that you can go with? a concert or musical or play or something

books about something she's interested in - just got my dad a book on wine tasting that looks awesome (I kinda want to read it when I go home for Christmas)

I would probably steer clear of furniture or wall hangings unless you know specifically that she likes/wants it.  Our townhouse is really tiny so new furniture would probably just end up in storage Smile
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

When my cousin graduated from vet school, I got her a gift card to Petco - that way she could get some treats for her patients - she loved it.  Sorry, I know that's the gift card route you're not sure about going.

Is she into bath & body works, do you know her favorite scent?  You could always go in and either get one of their premade gift baskets or get a whole bunch of their samples (maybe lots of different flavors of shower gel or something) and make your own basket.

Thank you guys all so much! I haven't been on here long, but I figured I could count on everyone for some good ideas!  I think I'm going to drive down and visit some weekend soon and do a mini spa/salon type thing with dinner and drinks after. She's so busy with school and everything that she doesn't ever get to do that type of thing.

One more thing crossed off my to do list!
