Holidays and Co-workers

Do you do anything for/with your co-workers for the Holidays? Do you do a secret santa, bake, or give small goodies? I gave my co-workers small stockings with their names on it and a candycane inside.

I work at a hospital in the IT department at a temp. for right now. I put my resumes out there but am sticking it out here until I get a job. They decided to thank me for all that I have done by getting me a card and this cute little guy:

So I ask- what are you doing for your co-workers, if anything, and what have they done for you?

I has none right now.  In the past though, usually a Christmas card is what I give and they usually did a dinner, and with one job it was something different every year.  One time a teddy bear, a polar bear, and then once we got a huge duffel bag that I still use to this day when traveling.

I'm in school, but all the TAs in our department do a Secret Santa. We had our party last Friday evening.

When I had a real job, we use to all exchange little $1-$2 gifts. I would typically dip plastic spoons in chocolate and decorate them with marshmallows. Then I would put 3 spoons and 3 packets of hot chocolate together in a little Christmas baggie. Everyone loved them.

We just had a big Christmas breakfast where everyone brought in something.  It was fun! And I'm way overstuffed with Cuban pastries.  If there are only 2 things the Cubans get right with food...  it's coffee and pastries!

We're just about to do a Secret Santa. Hopefully the girl I brought a gift for likes it!

We did a big lunch and did a wine exchange at it - so we each got and gave one bottle. Some team members have done cards, which I plan to do over the weekend, and 1 gave us this cute little hot chocolate set. Nothing big or fancy, which I like because there is no pressure.

While they're mostly not my current coworkers, a bunch of us that used to work together still hold the same holiday party every year as when the company used to pay for it. Now it's a $60pp lunch. We take over the same restaurant every year to have a fancy lunch and the craziest white elephant gift exchange.

We had a Secret Santa at my office. It was lots of fun. I'm bad at it, though. I get really excited every time presents are involved. I just want to tell them I was their Secret Santa when I see the happy reactions.

The few number of ladies at my place would get small fun gifts for each other, but the last two years we took the money that we would spend on gifts for each other and put it towards buying gifts for kids that are in orphanages.  We figure it is a better use of our money.

[QUOTE]We have *two* departmental Xmas parties during work ("mandatory fun" as I call it....), and BF's work had a party on a Sat nite a few wks ago, and did a SS. Not to thread-jack BUT....how do y'all feel about co-workers giving each other presents at work?  I don't get anyone anything b/c I'm a mean scrooge (no, b/c we're at WORK and I need to save my $$ for friends and family..), but other co-workers will get matching gifts for SOME other co-workers, so that SOME people have presents on their desks and some don't.  I think it's super-awkward.  If you're truly friends with them outside of work, meet them for coffee and give them their personal present.  If you're gonna bring presents to work, bring enough for the whole department or whatever. Whenever I get one of those presents which only go to SOME people, I put it under my desk so no one feels awkward.  What if someone ends up getting NO presents, u know? Or am I just over-thinking this? //end threadjack, sorry cde.

    HOW DARE YOU?!

J/k. That would be super annoying and I would do the same. My gift was from the department as a whole so not quite as akward.

The girls in the office draw names, (there's 5 of us).  The one that drew my name got me an amazon gift card for my Kindle.  Woot Woot!

Then all the employees play Dirty Santa.  There were 22 of us playing this year.  The gifts are pretty awesome, e.g:
-"Party in a Bag" (Contained a bottle of Jim, a can of coke, and a pack of cigs.)
    -Lottery tickets
-Maker's Mark gift set w/Christmas ornament.
    -gas gift cards
I got a bottle of Jager w/a set of 4 shot glasses.
I brought a set of collapsible tool bags, and stuck a $5 lottery ticket in there to meet the gift price minimum.  It got stolen twice.

We get vicious when we play.  I'm surprised no one holds a grudge.  It's a frickin blast.

ETA: Oh yeah, someone brought a pocket ____(fill in the blank) from Spencer's this year.  Funniest moment evah.

I made everyone in my row of cubicles stockings with their names on them and every day someone fills everyone's stocking with candy. It's good stuff too like Dove bars :)

I'm going to make everyone cookies and whatnot next week.

I teach in an inclusion room as the regular ed teacher. There is also my co-teacher (special ed) and two teaching assistants. I am going in on gifts for the TAs with my co-teacher and I got my co-teacher a gift.

The whole first grade team goes in on a gift for each of the custodians and secretaries.
