AW: What I do to stay BSC free... PIP

My bff found out that I wanted to start sewing again so she talked to her mom and they are lending me (for like 10 years lol) her sewing machine. Her mom got it for x-mas 3 years ago and never got it out of the box... I was so happy!!!

Here is what I made first:

Then I made this scarf for my self!

(ignore my face BF made me laugh)

Then I made one for my friend as a thank you:

And finally I made this hankercheif/cardi style vest (this was no sew):

Thanks for letting me be a total AW!
(Please ignore my messy face and hair, I just finished cleaning lol)

Too fun! I love sewing too! A lot of us NEY girls seem to like to sew, we should create a little sewing group.  Those scarves look AWESOME!

I'd be up for a sewing group... pass ideas around and what not!

The scarves are soooo easy! Just buy a yard of a jersey knit and cut in half. sew a zig zag, short end to short end (on both ends) so it makes a long infiniti  scarf... Since it is a knit you don't have to finish the edges, they just kind of roll up on themselves.

Andplusalso, a lot of slub knits and other thin jerseys are on sale right now since the season is ending... I've probably bought about 10 yards of fabric and spent maybe $15!!!

Hahaha... I've been working on them for like a week. I just got around to AW everything :) I also made BF's little sister a vest like mine but used a dark grey and sheer black zebra stripe knit, turned out super cute but I didn't take any pics :(

Thanks everyone... Its been super fun making all the scarves. I am giving them to friends as bday gifts and buying them vintage broaches to pin on them :) Awesome gifts for about $10!!! Hell yes, no more BSC and not killing my budget!

Here is my tutorial for the scarf... Click on each step to make it bigger, TK is making me post them as images : /

ETA: Let me know if this is still confusing, I had to do it in paint so its not as detailed as I would like.

That looks awesome, I wish I could do stuff like that.  My skills are the ability to sew a button back on.

Those look AWESOME!  I am not a very talented seamstress...  but I have tried things every now and then.  I have been meaning to make a Jane Austen costume for several years now.  Stupid graduate school. Getting in the way of hobbies, and what not. The scarves are really, really adorable.

You should come visit me in L.A. and we can go to the fabric district!!!! I bought about 18 yards of really nice fabric for $20! I made myself a summer dress and am in the process of making one for my sister.  I LOVE the fabric district, once I get a job FI and I are going to go and get some fabric so I can make curtains for the house, and totally shop around for cheap table runners and organza chair sashes.

Thanks for the scarf tutorial, I want to make one now!!!!

OMG... You have no idea how much I'd love to go to the fabric district... BF and I are planning a trip for after my graduation, and I want to do a road trip to Cali and stop there for sure!
