S/O Anniversaries

After LyzMcFlyz's post, I got to thinking:
What anniversies do you celebrate with your S/O?

We celebrate our first date anniversary and our officially dating anniversary.  BF and I went to the same diner he took me to for our first date.  It was actually really cute, but we skipped the 2 hour talking in the truck in the Walmart parking lot.  Next week is our officially dating anniversary, which I hope we will NOT but reliving.  I was laying on the couch with a 103.8 fever and he came running when I called for help.  I told him I was going to finally start calling him my BF and he thought it was my fever talking.  Needless to say, we decided to just do a dinner this year to a semi nice local restaurant.  It's middle of the week, and too close to Christmas for anything too crazy.

We don't really "celebrate" any, but we do recognize the day we "officially started dating" even though we'd been seeing each other for about 3 weeks before hand. We just count from December 28th. Both our birthdays, Christmas, and dating anniversary are within the same week so it seems silly to really do something special for every single thing.

We celebrate the anniversary of our first date.  Technically, our first kiss was the night before.  Our first anni. we went to the same restaurant as on our first date (with my dad along cause he was in town).  Second anniv. we went to Gettysburg for the weekend.  This year (3rd anniv.) we were going to go to DC but ended up just going out for a nice dinner.

We don't actually know when our anniversary is.  It's sometime in mid to late October, but we had been seeing each other (to use the ladylike terminology) for a month or so already.

So we don't celebrate anything, but sometime around November one of us always mentions that it's been another year and we high five.

We celebrate our "officially together anniversary" which was last week :) We had been seeing each other kind of casually for about 2 months before we decided to be exclusive and really invest ourselves. We do note the day that we first met -- our "meet-iversary" in October, but not with anything special.

we never really had an official first date, we just sort of flowed seamlessly from friends to dating so our anniversary is just a random date we picked at the end of september which is around the time our relationship became more than just friends.

We celebrate our first date pretty casually. To be honest, I sort of forget the exact date. It is the begining of January...I have the 7th, 8th or 9th in my head . So, we especially don't do much being burnt out after the holidays.

We count from our first date, and we only know because I kept the movie stub.

I think we just went out to eat last year.  Our 2nd isn't until April, so I don't know what we will do.

We celebrate our "officially together date" which was Easter this year, April 4. He asked me to be his girlfriend. First guy to actually do that to me and I knew he was a keeper at that moment!  But we dated like a month and a half before that. Whats funny is he is the one to remember the date every month, and say something to me on my facebook page for everyone to see. Like on the 4th of this month he wrote "Happy 8 months baby. We're closing in on the big 1 year. Cant wait." And honestly, i forgot! lol but thats why i love him!! But we dont really do anything special for it. Just him remembering is good enough for me :)

Our first date anniversary is today. The anniversary of our first kiss is 12/31 (yes, we waited 3 weeks to kiss... and the only reason I remember was because it was my birthday)... So, I guess our 'offical, we're together and we're consumating it' anniversary is January 7th... (only remember that because that was the day I bought my coach bag and I saved the receipt! lol)  I guess we should discuss which day we want to use as our 'official' anniversary... We've yet to actually 'celebrate' anything lol

Somewhere in and around June 15 is our anniversary.  We usually take the weekend that falls before or after to celebrate.  This year we went on a mini staycatation.  Oh and he proposed.  Best anniversary ever.

We just had our 5-year anniversary on Saturday the 5th. We only celebrate the day we became "official." redone celebrate the day we met since we've been friends since we were 8 and close friends since 2001. We were friends with benefits before being official, but weren't exclusive. To celebrate we just do dinner. This year we did breakfast too and went to visit our puppy (who is 5 weeks old now).

It sounds lame but we celebrate our anniversary on the date we became facebook official (April 2). Due to some mutual confusion over whether the other one remembered we started dating at a friends party on March 31. We affectionately call the three months before that the "grab ass period". Not because we fooled around (I have rules about that) but because we should have been official but both of us were waiting for the other to say something.
We normally skip Christmas and birthday presents and just exchange anniversary gifts after a nice dinner. This year he called his fraternity brothers and had them "serenade" me . in the music building lobby before class, since he wasn't in town yet.

Note: The serenade is SO sweet, its one of their fraternity songs. It involves them getting on one knee in the middle of it and calling you their sweetheart. Its mostly reserved for the sweetheart they name every year or they sing it to the bride at the reception when she marry's a brother. Its a total tear jerker.

BF and I met on a blind date. Since neither of us could remember the actual day or a specific "we're exclusive now" date...we just randomly picked December 1st. We thought it would be easy to remember. (Guess it didn't work out as planned. We BOTH forgot this year!)

We usually just do something nice together at home and exchange cards. Not really gift-givers for anniversaries.

BF and I only celebrate our yearly anniversary, which we picked as the date of when we got back together on 6/23. We dated for about a month and a half, broke up, remained friends, but got back together 3 months later. We celebrate that day, because the first dating part wasn't so pretty, and we weren't really together in the other 3 months. For the longest time, even two years after we got together, BF thought our anniversary was 6/14. I told him to think of the movie The Number 23 to help him remember. It's kind of weird a Jim Carrey mind flick is helping him do that.

Wow, sorry for the random posting on my old name.  That's the account I created years ago when I was helping my dad & step-mom pull their wedding together.  Sorry!

Anyway, pictures of the puppy!!!  She was so tiny and so cute and beautiful and... well... see for yourself.  Only a few more weeks till we get to bring her home!  She's definitely got brown eyes (I tell Chris that he's got himself another brown-eyed girl) and she's so smooshy.  I heart her.

We celebrate my birthday and our officially dating anniversary at the same time since they are only 5 days apart. We decided on our second date that we would see each other exclusively so there is not much of a gap between dating and officially being together.

Since our anniversary (Nov 3rd) is so close to my birthday (Nov 8) we just go our to dinner or something like that to celebrate both. This past year we went to Vegas to celebrate both. The year before that we went to dinner and he proposed after dinner.  The year before that (our 1 year anniversary), I lived in Ohio and he lived in Wisconsin. We did not see each other on our anniversary but we did go to Vegas about 3 weeks after so we turned that trip into a birthday/anniversary trip.

We are getting married on our anniversary so our relationship anniversary will always be the same.
  • edited December 2011
We celebrate our "anniversary" on July 4. That was the night he asked me out for the first time. Our first date was within about 2-3 days of that, and we got exclusive pretty quickly, so I honestly don't know when we became "official". We usually celebrate somewhere in the July 4th weekend by going out to dinner/movie or something similar. No presents.

Once April rolls around, we'll drop down to just celebrating our wedding anniversary. Gifts may or may not be introduced at that point.

Our birthdays are within two weeks of one another, so we usually celebrate them jointly.

We just used our 1 year Officially dating as a reason to finally get a Wii... haha we needed to justify it for some reason.

As for birthdays, ours are 2 weeks apart too (well 17 days) so we decided instead of gifts, we go on vacation.  Last year was Key West with friends... this year is Bahamas on a cruise!  He thinks it's the greatest idea ever.

FI and I celebrate our 'anniversary' as the day we met because we have pretty much been together ever since.  Although, our 2nd anniversary was just on 11/21 and it's the last time we will celebrate that date as we are getting married next year (2 weeks before our 3rd anniversary), so that will be our new date to celebrate.

I'm sure we will still mention that it's our 'dating anniversary', but we won't actually do anything to commemorate it.  We normally just go out for a nice dinner anyways.  I don't like doing gifts for anniversaries or V-day, I think those are occasions just for spending time together.
