Wedding Vows & Ceremony Discussions

***daria24***

I came up with another question. Was there any specific wording that was required during your vows for it to be legal. I know when an officiant does a wedding they are required to do the whole "by the powers vested in me by the blah blah blah pronounce you husband and wife" thing. So I was curious if there is the same sort of issue with something that had to be included for legality.

Re: ***daria24***

  • Chester County told us there wasn't any legally required wording. We said "by the powers vested in us by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, we now pronounce ourselves husband and wife." We each wrote our own vows, and included the phrase "I give myself to you to be your wife or husband." But that wasn't required.

  • We also signed the license during our ceremony, with our two witnesses, since that was what made it "official."
