Zales for engagement ring?

I'm comparing jewelers right now, in preparation for buying my girlfriend an engagement ring.  Is Zales the best place to go?  Looking at their locations, they're the only jeweler who has a location near every town that we might live.  Is this beneficial for cleanings, etc.?

I would go local. Often the service and prices will be better. Ask about what sort of warranty they offer and what the terms are. For example, some places say you have to bring the ring back every six months for inspection, but others will only require once a year. What sort of free maintenance is included?

I would go local or some place like Blue nile with an online presence.  Not that I've bought an engagement ring for anyone...

I would go local or to an online custom jeweler. We went with a jeweler online and got our ring for a rediculous price and a setting that we never would have gotten in a box chain store.

My fiance got my ring at Zales and I love it! But then again, it really doesn't matter where you bought it, I'm sure the person you give it to will love it just because it's from you. I know I'm supposed to get 2 free cleanings a year or something like that but haven't made the trip over so I couldn't tell you if it was good or not.

I am partial to Jared. I have never been disappointed with them. There diamonds are AMAZING!

My future sister in law has had trouble with her ring from Kay's. Not long after having it, a diamond fell out. After picking it up from being fixed, she got home only to realize that a diamond from the inside of the band (its a leo band with the diamond O) was missing. So maybe stay away from kay's
