It's a weekend miracle!

Idk if y'all remember my rant/complaint about not being able to go to the beach (BF's parents flaked out on us, this is the second year in a row, we can't afford to go on our own)... but I got a wonderful phone call from my mom this morning.

She wants me to plan a trip to any beach that's less than 4 hours away and my parents are paying (for the whole thing! although knowing BF, he will be stubborn and want to pay for some of it) for the four of us to go on vacation for 4 days.

So I'm looking at beach cottages! I think I decided on Tybee Island in Georgia.  We've exhausted all the beaches in SC (except Myrtle. We hate Myrtle) so we're moving south.

    We're heading out the last week in July, so it will be my birthday present, I think.

    Biggest birthday present I ever recieved.

    Also, Isaac's planning to talk to my dad while we're down there.

    SO jealous!

    I miss the beach. I grew up 30 minutes from Lake Michigan, so living in the desert, while I love it, def. has its disadvantages.

    BF is always talking about wanting to move to Arizona. I think I would miss the beach way too much.  I love where I live now.  I have 3 or 4 states at my direct disposal, and I'm always only 2 1/2 hours from the beach.  But I live in the mountains!

    Oh how I love South Carolina...

    I'n very grateful that they're paying for the vacation so I won't complain too much.. but I was just telling my mom about the two bedroom condo I found.  Its a king bed in one room and bunk beds in another.  Her reply? "I don't know about the two of you on bunk beds... isn't there a couch he can sleep on?"

    ... Really, mom? Really. Bunk beds?

    I honestly don't know if BF could fit on a bunkbed himself, let alone with me on it too. I really don't think my parents have anything to worry about...

    Hmm...I know it's not ideal, but there are some ok hotels and stuff down there that aren't *too* overly priced (except for during annual events, like Pirate Fest).

    I'll look around if I get some time and see what I can find for you as well.

    That'd be awesome, Acro.

    From what I'm finding, the hotels are only like 20 dollars cheaper than the house rentals.  But I'm checking that out too.

    Have you tried TripAdvisor.com?  Sometimes I find really unique and great places from looking on there.  Check hotels, but also be sure to click "B&Bs" and the other tab at the top.

    I actually found some really good deals with this site called vacationrentals.com.  I was able to do it by the state and then it shows all the available rentals. 

    I think I might be going more towards the SC coast again, though. :(

    While I've never booked, there are some nice places on that vacationrentals.com site. Did you look at Craigslist, too? I've found some vacation rentals on there before.
