Chuppah

Does a chuppah have to be used for a Jewish wedding only? My fiance' and I are having a Christian ceremony but I don't like the traditional round arches. We have a vintage theme and like the way a 4 post chuppah looks with the drapping. Please help!

Re: Chuppah

  • I am not jewish, and I am using a chuppah.  We are getting married outdoors and I need shade.  My eyes are very sensitive to sun, and I didn't want to squint and have watery eyes the whole time, so I needed an arch that provided some shade.  A chuppah did the trick.

Thanks for the info! I also learned recently they are called arbors as well when used for non Jewish weddings.
