Ladies Room

First of all, I am hungover. Blahh, but the Bruin's killed it last night so it was totally worth it!

There is a radio station around here that does this thing everyday called the Ladies Room. There are two woman and they ask a question and ladies call in and answer. Today's question was good so I thought we could do a ladies room today. So Today's question:

What is something "girlie" that you won't/can't do?

Some examples from this morning were coloring hair, shopping, getting nails done, etc. So what would you answer?

I don't wear makeup every day.  In fact, unless I'm seriously in the mood for it, you'd be lucky to catch me in makeup twice a week.

I am secretly AMAZING at makeup application, and when I have a special event, I do an awesome job.  But I don't really like the attention, if that makes sense.

I mean, not to toot my own horn here, but I don't feel like I really *need* it that much.  I've got good skin and reasonably long eyelashes.  The only part of my face that I think largely benefits from makeup is the dark circles under my eyes.

Also, whenever I see a woman who wears a full face of makeup every.single.day, I wonder how bad she must look under the makeup to warrant such an undertaking daily.  My old roommate was probably an 8-9 with her makeup...and probably a 3 or 4 without it.  True story.

WAX a bikini area! I know I'm way past my prime in getting into this stuff.... but it freaks me out. I've never tried it for that reason.

I never wear makeup either. Like never. You might see me in it once a month. I never got into wearing it when I was growing up, mainly because I was a real tomboy. I only wear it when I am going out or to a special event. BF likes when I wear it, but it's weird to him because I never do.

I very very rarely get pedicures (like 3 in my whole life). I'm extremely ticklish, so while I love how my feet feel after them, it's pure torture sitting in that chair and having them scrub my feet. I also don't particularly like manicures, but I've been going more regularly since I started to take better care of my nails. I feel like I'm breaking some sort of woman code!

So I just walked into my mom's office to ask her a question and she says "What did you do to your eye?" I HAVE A BLACK EYE! I have no clue how that happened. Then again, I don't remember most of last night. GAH!

I also barely ever wear makeup. Only for special occassions, so a handful of times per year.

Hmm, I need to think about this. I do most girlie things occassionally but I'm not hugely girlie in terms of how I look but more in my house and cooking.

I don't do acrylic nails. I don't mind having a mani. & I paint them myself a good bit. But, I think acrylics ruin my real nails. And they hurt. I have a few friends who have had them on since junior high-school.

You girls are lucky with the not wearing make-up every day thing! I've been wearing it for a while so I feel naked going out without any on! I have good skin but I guess it's just routine now.

Do you girls go to a tanning salon?

I'm definitely in the NO WAXING boat too.  I had a manicure done, and I liked how soft my hands felt, but I HATED having nail polish on.  My finger nails have to be au natural!  Oddly though, I think painted toes are super cute. This confirms what I've always known:  I'm a freak 'o nature!

I have never gotten a pedicure or gotten anything but my eyebrows waxed. I would get a pedicure though, I just have never thought it was necessary/worth the money. A manicure or acrylics, absolutely - I bite my nails and they are never long on their own so I will do this whenever I have a special event. But I do a pretty good job on my own toes so I have never thought it was worth it.

As for waxing, it also isn't that I wouldn't ever do it, I just haven't. And, to be honest, I really don't need to. I grow body hair at a snail's pace, and even then it is sparse and usually mostly soft and blonde. Shaving twice a week is plenty. I rarely even ever get my eyebrows waxed, because a bi-weekly plucking is more than enough to keep them straight. I know, I suck.

I dislike nailpolish and stuff like that. No thank you! I'll also never go to a tanning salon. I dye my hair, I wear make up, I like to shop...but beyond that, I'm not super girly.

I don't consider myself very girly at all.  I've never worn make up, or had a mani or pedi, or tanned, or even dyed my hair.  I'm just not into that stuff.

The one thing that I do everyday that is girly is wear a little bit of perfume or body spray, not nearly enough to overpower, just a little hint of something for myself.

Only thing I wax are my eyebrows, i occasionally wear make-up to work, but that's more to make myself feel better on some days and special occasions, i have had my pink & white nails for ooooh a year plus now continuously - i have short stubby man hands and bite my nails, so it's nice to feel a little girlie, and I keep my hair maintained (no color anymore, but it's get a few highlights until my natural color comes all the way back and it's kept styled).

Ummm.... I keep my nails and hair done, but other than that.... Psh, i'm rarely "put together" as most girls. I look good for my office job, etc. But if i'm not at work, I'm usually in jeans and a tank top, and barefaced.

I don't fake and bake - if i want sun, i go lay out by the pond for 15-20 minutes every day. (i burn reaaaaally easy).

IDK. I don't consider myself very girly other than my nails haha.

I HATE shopping, unless it's for other people or if i'm just touring around a town...

I am not super girly.  At all, I have always been a tomboy.  I wore nothing but baggy t-shirts and jeans till I was 16.  Only recently, with in the last 4 years, have I made any girly progress.  I wear cute cloths.  I like cloths and dresses, but I also have this awful habit of not being able to match at all.  I never wear makeup unless it is for a special occasion.  I don't really need too and I am too lazy to get up an extra 10 mins to make a face.  I don't really get my nails done.  I paint them myself but I don't pay someone to do them for me.  I think I have only done that 3 times in my life.  I don't dye or mess with my hair.  It goes in a pony tail almost every morning.  I am very low maintenance.  I only shave my legs when I have too.  I know I am a gross mountain girl! LOL

I probably only wear makeup once every other month. I don't tan.

But here's the part where you have to promise not to judge- I probably only shave my legs every other month? I have blonde fine hair- and it's just such a bother to shave.

I also hate shoping and I don't like clothes. I wish I could live in PJs! PJs forever!

    I fail at being girly.

ETA: CDE- Did you figure out how you got a black eye? Gosh- that's awful....but kinda funny at the same time.

I hate waxing too. I don't even get my eye brows waxed toooo often. I should do it more, but I HATE it. I don't bikini wax either- but I have a shaver thing that's for the bikini area and I LOVE it. It's this: http://www.amazon.com/Schick-Quattro-Trimstyle-Bikini-Trimmer/dp/B001TH8Q72
It has some mixed reviews it looks like, but I have had no issues with it. It's a perfectly close shave for that area.

I also don't wear makeup every day. I do wear it when I'm going out somewhere special, or to work. Or randomly if I feel like it. But, I'm not one of those girls who can't leave the house without makeup.

Oh man--if you'd asked me this question when I was 20, the list of girly stuff I didn't do (or did very rarely) would have been a mile long!

As it stands now, I've never waxed anything besides eyebrows (I LOVE having that done, makes me feel so good!), I don't tan, and I don't do fake nails. Mani/pedis I do once in a great while, but not often. I'm 27 and have had 3 or 4 in my life.

I don't do foundation with makeup unless I'm going to be under stage lights. I just do eyeliner/shadow/mascara.

I guess I do (or have done) all of the stereotypical "girly" things in my life...including tanning.  I quit doing that as soon as I realized I was A) going to get cancer, and B) going to look old before I needed to.

I'm pretty girly...but I do kill bugs without screaming.  Big ones.  Including spiders.  And I love helping BF work on the house...I took out an entire wall of drywall once so we could do some electrical work.  I felt super strong.

LOL well after reading everyone's posts I suppose I'm pretty girly, there's not much you guys mentioned that I *don't* do.  I wear makeup everyday, I'm not talking layers & layers of makeup but I use a tinted moisturizer or thin foundation, some blush, & mascara. I get a pedicure every couple weeks once it's sandal weather. I paint my own finger nails to keep myself from biting them.  I shave my legs every other day, less often in the winter though haha.  I get a brazilian wax every month, but I don't wax my eyebrows, I'm a plucker instead.  And I even go tanning, not often, really just once or twice before going on vacation to get a little base tan going.

ETA I forgot about my hair, naturally it's a brown mousy color that I loathe so I get highlights. Just fueling the girly fire!!

Hmm... I am kinda girly, but I don't do a lot of stuff with any frequency.

I wear no makeup 90% of the time. I use lanolin as lip balm and that's it. Maybe a couple of times a month I'll do makeup.

I've had one pedicure in my life, though I actually do keep my toes painted most of the time. I just do it myself.

I've never had anything waxed but my eyebrows. I haven't even done that in years (and I don't think I can because I use Retin-A).

I got a massage and a facial for the first time this year.

You who don't wear makeup are lucky. I'm blonde with green eyes, so if I don't have any mascara/eyeliner on my eyes disappear. I probably wear makeup 70% of the time and that 30% of the time when I don't I look like an eyeless twelve year old.

As for girly things I can't do, I can't do my hair. I can brush it and straighten the little waves out from putting my hair in a bun but that's about it.

I am very much a girly girl, however I have never gone tanning before that is the only thing I can truly attest to.   I don't get waxed all that often, try to do regular mani/pedi's.  A few months ago I took off my acrylic nails for the first time in 11 year.  It didn't take too long for my nails to get back to normal.  I do wear make up every day though, I can walk out of the house with at least some make up on.

Haha, I guess I'm pretty girly...I love having acrylic nails when I can, I get pedicures every couple of weeks in the summer, color my hair, and go tanning every once and a while (a lot less than I used to though). I've also done waxing, although I don't anymore. I wear make-up most days...I try to give my face a break when I'm not really doing anything out of the house, but definitely anytime I'm going anywhere but the grocery store or something.

I do hate shopping in actual stores, but I love browsing stuff online, so I don't know if I can really go as far as to say that I totally hate shopping. I guess that's as close as I'll get though.
