I was Declined..

As you know, my knee has really been bothering me. This morning I was in quite a bit of pain. It hurts to get out of the car...It hurts to sit down on the toliet.

::sigh::

I was waiting to get a job to apply for insurance. Currently, I'm carrying a Blue Shield of California plan- just in case something catastrophic happened.

I want to see a doctor- I no longer want to wait.

So I applied for Colorado Health Insurance and I was denied.

Blue Shield denied me...for pitty sakes- I'm not currently seeking medical care for anything right now- and I have insurance! ::sigh::

Boo. I'm bummed.

What medical insurance do you have? Do you like the company? Do you like the coverage?

When I had to go buy insurance for myself I had Tonik which was pretty cool.  Now I have health insurance through work and its Cigna.  Which has so far been really good, since I can pick my own doctor and not need a referral to go and see a specialist.

I'm sorry to hear about your denial.  Did they give you a reason of why they denied you?

Nope- they said it would send it in the mail.

I also have applied for Rocky Mountain Health Insurance- to see if I can get with them. :)

I don't have HI right now. I'm waiting for some pay checks to start rolling in. I was declined for an HMO about 8 years ago, and it sucks to be declined. I'm sorry!

I have Blue Cross Blue Shield.  I used to have United Healthcare which was pretty good, but they charged me extra for having a pre-existing condition, which I think is BS.

My sister was denied repeatedly because she'd had a diagnosis of bulimia in the last 5 years a few years ago - luckily, her job pays for her insurance now, because I don't think she'll ever be eligible :(

I can't think of any other reasons to decline you since you currently have a policy for "just in case" incidents.  Insurance companies are annoying at times.

And this is why I'm SO glad I'm Canadian.

I'm sorry you were declined though. Seems kind of silly, but I know nothing about this kind of stuff.

I called a Chiropractor and cried on the phone. I didn't realize how helpless I feel. Being in pain and/or suck sucks....It's so expensive.

I'm sorry you're having such difficulty with insurance companies, Lunar!

Right now I am a bum, and I'm currently on my mom's health insurance. I'm not eligible for insurance through work, because my position is part time for now. My mom has Cigna, and they're amazing. They paid for practically everything when I had all of my health problems last year, and the yearly deductible was only $300. Co-pays are pretty low, too.

When I did work full time at my last job, I had coverage through the state of Nevada, and the co-pays were similar to Cigna's, but the deductible was $800. They switched to a new insurance plan when I was leaving due to budget cuts. That plan had a $2,000 deductible, and they would not cover anything until you met your deductible. That meant no annual wellness exams, no prescription coverage, no coverage for dental work (even with the full deductible paid), etc. Everything was out of pocket. I'm glad I left right before it kicked in.

I'm scared of trying to find insurance on my own due to all of the health problems I encountered last year. I'm convinced I'll be declined. Even though doctors never found anything serious, I was tested for a lot of major things like a brain aneurysm and/or tumor, heart defects, and reproductive issues.

Health insurance sucks I completely understand the hell of it all. I am EXTREMELY fortunate that my husband's work provides us full medical coverage through Kaiser Permamente. I have zero complaints and currently we pay zero out of pocket for it outside of 15 dollar copays for office visits and prescriptions are no more than 20 each also.Even when my husband had appendicits and had to be admitted to the hospital and have surgery we only had to pay a minimal copay for the ER - everyhting else was covered.

I do recall when I broke my foot in Michigan and had no insurance I was also denied , and I couldn't understand why. I tried applying for temporary disability even , with no luck. It makes no sense to me why there are so many strings attached with getting the most basic of help. I hope you can figure out something soon. :(

I don't know how B&W's Blue Cross Blue Shield coverage is, but mine is not great.

I'm still bumming HI off my parents because my employers can't afford it for me right now, but my parents and I have had lots of issues with BCBS.

I went into the hospital two and a half years ago and on top of my deductible, I am still paying off $1000 of costs.

My dad was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer two years ago and it's been a battle trying to get an alternative treatment to chemo approved, even though the FDA has labeled the MUCH more effective drug a level 1 treatment for his specific type of cancer (non small cell, genetic mutation lung cancer).

They also won't cover any preventative management, like well woman exams. That was another $200.

Sorry if I ranted!! I'm frustrated they refuse to help my dad and they've irritated me before he was diagnosed.

I'm like Beads. As much as I may complain about the Canadian system, I'm glad it is there.

I hope you are able to sort something out!

I haven't had to deal with too many expensive things, so not sure how my coverage is up in the high-dollar range, but I paid $0 for my well woman exam this year.  BCBS also paid $2000 towards my BF's eye surgery - he paid $10.  So they've done well by us so far.  But they're through work, so it's not like we had a choice of where to go, really.

I had COBRA through my former job for several months, but it got so expensive I couldn't keep it. I went looking for something else. I found a temporary plan through BCBS that I could afford, but it's only good for 6 months. I was declined the first time I sent in paperwork for it too because I hadn't mailed it within so many days of the date I signed the application. Evidently there is a 10 day window, which I didn't know about. I had to fill all the paperwork out again and mail it immediately, and then I was accepted. I can apply for one more 6 month period after this one expires, but there is no guarantee that I'll be accepted. I'm sure if I have to visit the doctor for anything during the first 6 month period that they'll probably decline me for the second one.

I had blue cross blue shields for awhile, and I was pretty happy with that.... I now have some kind of student insurance through my university and am trying not to use it.

So sorry to hear that you were denied, never a good feeling! :(

Just wanted to throw out that a lot of companies have multiple plans, better rates and deductibles, larger companies get the best usually, smaller companies and private insurers have to pay more for the better policies.   So two people who have the same insurance company may have very different opinions because they have different policies.

For example my exH has BCBS and has for years, his policy is very good.  Small deductible and they cover all preventive (minus a small deductible), I have BCBS as well, my policy has a higher deductible, higher cost for prescriptions, etc.  Oh and I pay more (nearly double) for just myself than he does for him and our son.  Difference is he works for a large, national company and I work for a small privately owned company.

I use Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Tennessee -- it's provided by work. Prior to this, I did not have health insurance because my father could not get insurance so we didn't bother getting a family plan. It's been really nice having insurance though.

I made an appointment with this naturopathic doctor-
    http://www.springsnaturalmedicine.com/meet-the-doctors/allison-nabours-nd-cpm/

I'm really interested to see how it goes. I've ALWAYS wanted to meet with one. I love the idea of treating the whole body- and not just the symptoms.
