Not Engaged Yet

Oh heyyyyyyyy. (PIP)

I'm back!

And I remember the rules. It happened:

I slept in the airport and this mysterious fruit was breakfast. You eat the mushy part of it.

My view every morning <3 The Sacred Valley, Peru.

I survived Machu Picchu, but just barely.  Isn't that mist amazing?

This was a little girl who attended the school we were working with. Her name was Mavila and she was Quechuan. Don't mind how exhausted I look!

So for those of you who are curious, we built a water tank with a pipeline for the school's greenhouse. It's in a very rural area of Cusco, Peru where they're very poor and poor nutrition is a huge problem for the children who live in the mountains here. So the school wants to grow its own vegetables and fruit for the kids who come to school there. We also brought tons of donations for the families and did a lot of sight seeing.

It was amazing. Just incredible. I can't say enough good things about this experience. Totally and completely life changing!

But I'm also so glad to be back home. :)

It looks like you had a blast. It's wonderful you got the opportunity to help others and see some place new at the same time! Did you ever find out what kind of fruit that is? It's looks like some kind of bizarre orange.

Sparkles, it's called Grenadia apparently. It was really good, but so messy and strange looking. It's nothing like an orange, more like a pomegranate.

That's amazing! It's definitely something I would want to do. Did you do that through school or church or something else?

Machu Picchu is incredible, and you took such a beautiful picture of it!

    Thanks!

Alanna, it was a group of us from my school that went but we worked with a local NGO while there. Such a great group too! They're doing some incredible work.

Beautiful pictures, except for the fruit...it looks weird. It's awesome that you got the opportunity to do this, and that you took advantage of it and had a blast!

Yay!  Glad to hear it went well!

Did you eat ceviche?  And those delicious potatoes (they have over 250 kinds of potatoes - my kind of place!)?  And the giant pieces of corn?

Pardon me, I travel by eating.

What will you be doing on the trip? Do you know where you're going?

You're lucky to go in May- it was really rainy when we went and mudslides and floods were definitely a bit of a problem.
