March Madness

Well March Madness officially starts today!  Do any of you ladies enjoy the craziness that goes along with it?  Anyone complete a bracket?

I like doing the brackets because it gives me someone to root for in the games when otherwise I have no affiliation to either team.  I enjoy watching basketball to--it's fast paced and pretty easy to follow.  I put Notre Dame down as the winner--and I'm the only one in my pool to do so.  $720 up for grabs!  ($20 each and 36 entries)

Who all filled out a bracket?  Who did you choose as the winner?

I do not do any brackets for money - I am simply NOT as good as that.

But I'm WINNING in our group (me, BF, BF's mom, BF's dad) and BEATING BF. 

It's only 2 games in. 

I won't be WINNING for long.

Ok, take this with as little bias and stereotypes as you can:

Bracket pools are often won by women who know nothing about basketball.

Sometimes choosing the teams based on the current rankings and which mascot you like the most can be beneficial.

I was in a football pool and the guy won based on colors and mascots... made me SO FREAKING ANGRY.

That said, yes I have a bracket.  Losers takes winner to dinner (it's with 2 co workers).  So far I think I have 1 team out of two.  Was picking clemson to upset WV... they sure gave my team, UNC, a run for their money in the ACC tournament.

Oh, and I basically flip a coin when filling out my bracket.  Or cheat.
(Last year, I chose a female ESPN reporter, and mixed her bracket with Obama's.  Yes, that was my strategy.)

I don't take filling it out seriously, but I keep up with it seriously.  I will be walking around with my bracket and a highlighter to tally points.

Ours is online via CBS Sports, so it does all of the tallying and ranking for you.  It's fun to see how the rankings of entries can vary so much day-to-day. 

I don't have a ton of strategy going in.  I like to pick an upset here and there, but really, it's just the luck of the draw.  It pains me to have my school have to lose out the 2nd round, because I want to root for them, but realistically, I just can't do it!  The last 3 years, it has been women winners who had no rhyme or reason to their picks.

My class did brackets in 7th grade. My strategy was teams with pretty colors or in states I liked and I tore it up.

My strategy is not picking teams that are orange (because the gators are orange...ew)

Other than that, I pick based on whether I've heard of their football teams, I think.

But I did pick morehead state.  So I'm obviously a prodigy.

I don't fill out any brackets or anything it's always fun to get into and watch. I got my MBA at west virginia university, so I always root for them

Sweet!  I only filled one out because BF made me.  There are 8 of us (BF's family) participating throwing in $5 each. 

I have become a football fan over the 7 years BF and I have been together.  I figure it will take him another 7 years for me to become a fan of basketball.  <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-wink.gif" border="0" alt="Wink" title="Wink" />

I just checked my bracket and WHAAAAT??? - I'm winning.  BF is 2nd.  I have the Longhorns to win playing against Vandy in the championship. 

I usually vote against all things orange because I hate Clemson.  The Longhorns are the only exception because I am from TX.

SKP - Why do you hate Clemson so much?

I have a bracket in four or five different places (I pick all the same teams). One of the pools has 212 people at $10 each. It would be really nice to win that one! 

As far as my picks, of course I picked Clemson to upset WVU so I lost that one, but I picked Richmond to win, and I had Louisville losing in the next round anyway, so I'm not upset that Morehead St. won. The next few days are the best sports days of the year!
