Favorite Musicals?

Bside's thread made me think we also need a musicals thread! What are some of your favorite musicals, and what songs do you love most from them?

Here are a few of mine:

The Sound of Music - "Edelweiss," "Do, Re, Mi," "Sixteen Going on Seventeen"

Mary Poppins - "Spoonful of Sugar," "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious"

OKLAHOMA! - "People Will Say We're In Love" duet, "Out of My Dreams," "Lonely Room"

My Fair Lady - "I'm Getting Married in the Morning," "I Could Have Danced All Night," "Without You"

Lady in the Dark - "My Ship" and "the Saga of Jenny" (Okay, I've never seen this show, but those songs rule)

Brigadoon - "Almost Like Being in Love"

Silk Stockings - all of them, can't pick one :)  If you haven't seen this, rent it! Cyd Charisse + Fred Astaire + fantastic score, dancing, and costumes = SWOON.

Victor/Victoria - "Le Jazz Hot," "Crazy World." I like the movie better than the show. Rent this, too!

I'll stop there for now. Now you guys go!

Edited: to make the list easier to read.

Ok, confession:  I'm not big into musicals.  I like them when I see them, but I don't seek them out, so I really don't have much to contribute.  I'm a big fan of Phantom, but Deburnin already mentioned that one.

OH MAN. Wrkn, how could I have forgotten to include West Side Story?! That score is one of the most incredible things in the world to me. I can't really pick fave songs, but would have to go with "Maria" and "Tonight" if I had to.

I'm also slapping myself upside the head for forgetting to include Fiddler, Cate. I love "If I were a Rich Man" and "Anatevka."

B&W, Grease is good, too. :) I like "Sandy" and "Greased Lightning" a lot.

Desert--Chicago rules, too. "Funny Honey" is one of my faves, along with "Nowadays" and of course "All That Jazz."

Wicked: Defying Gravity, Popular, What is this Feeling (aka Loathing) and For Good

Beauty and the Beast: Home, Human Again, and If I Can't Love Her (one of my favorites to play on piano)

Jekyll & Hyde: Good n Evil, Dangerous Game, In His Eyes, and Someone Like You

Rent: Seasons of Love, Take Me or Leave Me

Since no one else has mentioned Jekyll and Hyde, please check out the soundtrack. It's excellent (with Linda Eder as Lucy).

Brigadoon is my all time favorite musical - I actually got to see the stage show in London when I was 14 and fell in love with it then.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers is a close second.

I can't just pick one song from either - they're all great.

Leia--I don't know Jekyll & Hyde that well, but I used to work on the song "Once Upon a Dream" in voice lessons. Very pretty.

Bside--I agree with almost all of yours! (I'm just not a Rent fan.)

Paige--Music Man is fun, too! Saw it on Broadway a couple years ago, and "Sit Down..." was really, really good. Also have to agree with "A Boy Like That" from WSS. Such a beautiful, emotionally charged, haunting duet. Girl power. I can't decide if I like having some of it in Spanish or not--don't know if you know, but the current B'way revival has a lot of vocal parts translated into Spanish.

Oh dear God. Here we go:

Annie - Pretty much every song.

Avenue Q - "It Sucks to Be Me (What Do You Do With a BA in English?)," "If You Were Gay," "There's a Fine, Fine Line"

Company - "Company," "You Can Drive a Person Crazy," "Another Hundred People," "Marry Me a Little," "Barcelona," "The Ladies Who Lunch," "Being Alive,"

Funny Girl (the film) - Pretty much every song.

Hair - "Aquarius," "Donna," "I've Got Life," "Hair," "Easy to Be Hard," "Frank Mills," "The Flesh Failures/Let the Sunshine In,"

Hairspray - "Good Morning, Baltimore," "Run and Tell That," "Without Love," "You Can't Stop the Beat,"

Little Shop of Horrors - "Suddenly, Seymour," "Somewhere That's Green"

Next to Normal - "Just Another Day," "You Don't Know/I Am the One," "Superboy and the Invisible Girl," "I'm Alive," "Wish I Were Here," "I Am the One (Reprise),"

Rent - "Rent," "Light My Candle," "One Song Glory," "Another Day," "La Vie Boheme," "What You Own,"

South Pacific - "Some Enchanted Evening," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man (Right Outta My Hair)," "I'm in Love with a Wonderful Guy," "Younger than Springtime,"

Spring Awakening - "Mama Who Bore Me," "The Word of Your Body," "The Dark I Know Well," "Touch Me," "Totally F*cked,"

Sweeney Todd - "The Ballad of Sweeney Todd," "The Worst Pies in London," "Johanna," "A Little Priest," "Kiss Me," "Nothing's Gonna Harm You (Not While I'm Around),"

GPB, nice choices! Next to Normal is such a powerful show, GAWD. And I'm so glad I saw it. But I can't say as I've ever walked out of the theatre humming the tunes. I'm not super impressed with the score, but I love the show anyway, and it's almost all signing. Isn't that weird? (I do like that part where the daughter sings about Mozart, though.)

Danser, cool. How'd it go? I start rehearsals for a production of Into the Woods in May. Sondheim is cool sometimes.
