Envelope Mall/Invitation Question

So I am finishing making my invitations so I can assemble them and get them out.  I had a question about envelope mall.  I was looking at the Stardream envelopes, but I am afraid that they may be hard to print addresses on.  Has anyone used those envelopes?  I think it is a bit too late in the game to order a sample.

On that note, I am hoping to send the invites by end of next week, my FI is stressing them out because he thinks they should have been sent at the 3 month mark and supposedly guys (yes guys) he works with said they should be out at 3 months.  Am I really late on this?

Re: Envelope Mall/Invitation Question

  • Sorry, no opinion on the envelopes.  As for the timing, I've heard anything from 2-3 months.  We are trying to give 2 months before our reply-by date.  If you sent save-the-dates, I think you are totally fine.  If you didn't send save-the-dates and people are travelling, then you probably want to get the invites out as soon as possible.
  • 6-8 weeks is etiquette standars, so you are totally fine.

I had stardream envelopes, but I handwrote them.  They turned out find that way.
  • I'm not too sure what Stardream envelopes are, so I'm afraid I'm no help there.

As far as timing goes, you're not really behind.  I see lots of us April brides getting ready to mail out invites soon (I am sending mine out Monday, because that's the next day I can get to the freakin post office to drop them), but I need RSVP's by the end of March for head count purposes.

  • Yea, I sent save the dates so out of town guests (just a drive not flights etc) have booked hotel rooms.  I was thinking 8-10 weeks out, so sending around mid-Feb for a mid-March RSVP so I have a month to hound people and do tables.

I looked up others printing on the stardream and they said it is fine so I ordered them.
  • I sent mine out at the 3 month mark and made the RSVP date for 3/7/2012 so my MOH can do teh calls the week after but as said above...I heard 2-3 months is fine
  • Some people say 3 months, some say 2, some say 6 weeks. I personally think 3 is too early, especially if you did STDs, because (according to my grandma) people will forget, but it's not the end of the world.

  • I'm ordering my invitations tomorrow from VistaPrint, and will send them out about 6-8 weeks before the wedding date. They are usually pretty fast. I'll send them somewhere between the middle to end of February.  I am putting the RSVP date as end of March, so March 30 (bc it's the Friday).

  • My wedding is April 28th RSVP date is 4/7. My guests are already asking for them. I'm afraid that if I send now they'll assume since they have til the 7th I'll RSVP and Lose it or forget. So do i sent 8 weeks before wedding or RSVP date?
I dreamed of a wedding of elaborate elegance, I asked him what kind of a wedding he wished for, He said one that would make me his wife.
  • edited February 2012

My wedding date is on April 28, 2012 and my fiancee and I did send out STD...we sent out our invitations on January 28, 2012 with an RSVP date of February 28, 2012. We will be traveling to Aruba on April 6, 2012 so we needed to have the responses in before we leave.  So far we have invited 206 people and have received 87 yes responses and 6 no responses so it is not a bad thing to get them out early.
