I sort of lightly mentioned in my last thread that I've had a little bit of a sore throat for the past couple of days and that I was taking anything I could to help make it go away and keep it from turning into a cold/flu/whatever's going around right now.
Well, this morning I woke up and it felt absolutely raw. Kind of like how I imagine it would feel if you were to swallow sandpaper and gargle nails. I went to the doctor and was told....
I have Strep Throat.
FAN-FREAKIN-TASTIC.
Come to find out, I also have a fever, which was news to me. I didn't know this, but apparently you're supposed to get new thermometers every so often to make sure they stay accurate. We've had the same one for... well, much longer than that. I took my temperature when I got home, and it said I was actually "97.5", whereas the doctor's thermometer said "100.7". Quite a difference.
The good news is, according to the doctor, because I started treating my symptoms the moment I noticed them, I've pretty much avoided most of the symptoms of strep-throat except for the obvious (sore throat) and a fever (that I wasn't aware I had).
So, now I'm on some antibiotics and some nasty syrup medicine called "Magic Mouthwash" to numb the back of my throat. All in all, I would greatly appreciate some healthy vibes... I can't be getting sick now!

Update 4/12/12 And, as if this week weren't bad enough, my mom informed me that one of our furbabies (the "middle" child) had to be put to sleep this morning. Breaks my freaking heart. I'm still crying like a baby.
