Holy Rollercoaster of a week! Vent/Update

So, this week has been insane, and not in a good way.  As of 5:30pm on Wednesday I am unemployed.  I was let go from my job and have been given 2 months of pay to tide me over until I can find something else, as well as the promise of a good reference.  I was shocked and upset, obviously.  That being said, I am trying not to panick too much and just get right to work finding a new job.

That night my son and I had plans of decorating the Christmas tree, BF was supposed to join us but had sent me an email earlier saying he had a project that was going to keep him late and may not make it to help decorate the tree.  Once I left work I text BF and told him the not so good news, picked up B, headed home and made dinner.  At one point BF sent me a sweet text that he was leaving work and coming over and would work from home on the project later and that he would help with anything and could cover any bills if need be, etc. I started to cry  because he was being so sweet.  B tried to make it better by bringing me his favorite blanket from my Mom and making me a picture.  Then BF came in with flowers and a bottle of wine and helped hang the ornaments, then rubbed my neck and feet and was just awesome and made me feel a lot better.  BF was beyond amazing and really said about a million great things about me as a person, GF, mom and said that he is so sorry that he doesn't say it all the time, but he gets wrapped up in working all the time, etc.  I am very blessed to have such a sweet BF and my adorable son (and all my other family and friends) to help me get through this time!

After B was in bed and BF went home I sat up and looked up some job openings online for a couple hours that night, then Bradley woke up and I heard him coughing and then crying so I went into his room to find that he puked all over his bed.  He puked a few more times and we were up half the night.  Needless to say, it was not the best day, Wednesday.  Thankfully the little one is feeling better!

I have since updated my resume and put together a cover letter and applied to about 20 job openings listed on Career Builder, pretty much anything fulltime that is nearby and I am qualified for.  I also sent my resume out to a few family members and close friends who may be aware of some openings.

I'm going to put in a little more time on this and then throw in the towel and forget about it all for a couple days.  BF and I are off to Pittsburg tomorrow and will be returning on Monday afternoon.  This little getaway could not have been planned for a better time!

So, if you all could send some T&P and knottie vibes for some follow-up and a job offer in the near future I would greatly appreciate it!  TIA, Ladies!

I'm sorry about your job, Dwest.  Why were you let go?  Is your company just doing cutbacks?  Are you eligible for unemployment benefits?

It sounds like you're dealing with things well.  Definitely give yourself a few days to relax and don't think about job stuff.  It'll all work out.

Let me know if you want me and my team (I work in career services at a university) to look over your resume and cover letter. :)

What a strangely bittersweet week- awful situations, but being showered in love.

Also- I've had awesome luck with staffing agencies.

Are you looking on www.indeed.com and www.dice.com?

Hey Jaycee, we are staying at the Renaissance on 6th Street?  I've never been to Pittsburg and neither has BF but the other 2 couples that we are going with go every year.  We're leaving about 10am tomorrow and staying until Monday.  Plans for tomorrow include Primanti Brothers and beers but nto sure of the details, or if we'll just wing it.  Sunday we're going to the game and have dinner reservation at a restuarant up on the hill over looking the city, but I can't recall the name of it...?

I will PM you my cell number if you will be nearby and want to try and meet up just call or text me!

    Thanks again to all of you for the kind words, you are all so sweet!  I'm packing then heading out...hope you all have a great weekend! :) <table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" id="yui_3_2_0_1_1322868740062112"><tbody id="yui_3_2_0_1_1322868740062111"><tr><td colspan="3" style="line-height:13px;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, Sans Serif;font-size:11px;font-weight:normal;"> </td></tr><span class="yshortcuts"><tr id="yui_3_2_0_1_1322868740062177"><td id="yui_3_2_0_1_1322868740062176" colspan="3" style="line-height:13px;font-family:Arial, Helvetica, Sans Serif;font-size:11px;font-weight:normal;"> </td></tr></span></tbody></table>

Sorry to hear about your job loss! It is wonderful how much your boyfriend and son are with you throughout this hard time. I wish you the best in finding a new, better job.

I agree with lunarsongbird about staffing agencies. Most of them are contract, temp work, but it'll at least help you while you look for your job. Also, some of their jobs are temp-to-hire, and those are always great.

There is also monster.com, craigslist and Twitter. Twitter has some job boards that tweet new job opportunities from different job sites.

Ahhh that sounds fun :) We just went to Primanti's two nights ago. I recommend the black angus sandwhich with a side of cheese sauce for the extra fries :)

I'm assuming you mean the Le Mont? There are a few other places up on Mt. Washington but that is by far the nicest view :)

FI is taking me out on a surprise date tonight, so depending on where we end up I'll let you know! I sent you a PM back with my #!
