Unlimited Budget

I have an unlimited budget.  I am just wondering what certain things i SHOULD have, like any unique ideas or fun/exciting ideas.

Re: Unlimited Budget

• Just start looking around online and gathering pics and ideas of things you might like to have. If it were me and I had unlimited budget, I would still set myself a budget and use the rest of the money to buy a house or something that is going to benefit me or something that you and your new husband could use and not spend so much a huge party.
• Unicorns and leprechauns.
• Unlimited budget?  I wouldn't be so sure about that unless you are paying for the wedding yourself.  There are a lot of brides who think they have an unlimited budget, and then get really upset when their parents tell them that their spending is out of control.  I would make sure to sit down with whoever is paying for the wedding and outline a rough estimate of how much everything will cost.  Also, remember that wedding money also comes with strings attached.

That being said, if I had an unlimited budget I would plan a wedding week.  You only get one day to be princess bride, but you can do a lot of fun wedding activities throughout the week.
-Spa day with the WP and/or Family
-Ladies of the families luncheon (mom, grandma, FMIL, FGMIL, sisters, FSIL etc.)
-Sports outing for the men of the families
-Welcome dinner for OOT guests and family
-Rehearsal dinner
-Day after the wedding mimosa brunch
-Fabulous honeymoon

As for wedding day extras I would have
-Wedding planner
-Extra photographers
-Extra videographers to capture guest's messages to the b&g
-Transportation for guests to and from the hotel
-Cocktail hour with the theme of your HM (i.e. Hawaiian drinks, pupus, and performers)
-An open bar
-Live pianist/soloist for dinner
-Live band and DJ for dancing
-A lounge area for guests who don't want to dance
-Special lighting for the reception area
-Babysitters at the hotel if it's a no kids party

Are you planning at a Disney Park?

This exactly.  Get ideas on what you like and go from there.  Remember that if someone else is paying for it besides you and FI they will get a say in what you have too.

The only things you SHOULD have are bride, groom, license & officiant.  Everything else is gravy.  Plus like pp said you could save money in a lot of areas and put what you saved toward a house or into savings.

What does "unlimited budget" mean? Has anyone actually said, "Spend as much as you want?"

• Hire David Tutera. He makes wonderful things happen and I'm sure he could get you the unicorns and leprechauns.
• Ask whoever said you have an unlimited budget, "what happens when the budget hits $100,000.00 or $500,000.00? Is it still an unlimited budget then?"

If so, then have fun. If I had more money then I knew what to do with I would...

1. Hire a great planner (maybe 2)
2. Get a very fancy & big venue
3. Black tie all the way. (huge lobsters for everyone!)
4. Invite everyone (within reason) I knew with a guest

OP watch platinum weddings for some fun ideas.

Ditto this. Way to brag about it
• Just to clear up some confusion, my budget is really unlimited.  My family is very wealthy.  also my fiance and i already have an apartment and will be moving to new york a few weeks after the wedding.
• So hire a planner and don't rub your money in the face of us po' folk.  One of my very good friends comes from a wealthy family, and when we talked wedding stuff, she certainly wasn't saying, "I have all this money, what am I going to do with it?"  I guess this is just proof that money can't buy class.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284

I think Nilla offers some really great ideas.... are you getting married in the parks? We got married in Orlando and also live in NY. We wanted to originally have everything on disney property but there were far too many rules... when you can/can't married in front of cinderella's castle, how far out you can book, what vendors you can use, etc...  and we didn't like many of their options. As far as budget, we didn't have a particular number in mind, but we also didn't have an unlimited budget. We ended up spending a lot, but not a the couple of million it probably would have took to buy disney out in order to get that wedding we wanted to have there... we opted for a neaby resort to host all the wedding events at, which worked out beautifully because we were able to customize every little detail. Definitely do a welcome dinner/reception and an after wedding bunch, they both went over huge.... especially for all our guests since everyone traveled! Also, definitely go for lighting as well as pipe and drape! If you are getting married in the parks you can pretty much do anything with a completely unlimited budget... then you have the option to buy them out which is great. However, I would also look into doing something at a resort where you can host everything and really customize things to the "T"... definitely check out all your options...

MOST IMPORTANTLY never let ANY vendor know money isn't an option, you will get taken advantage of.

ALSO, unfortunately having a high to unlimited doesn't go over well on TK... so just be advised next time you want to ask a question it's not a good idea to come out and just say you are wealthy and have money... ask more along the lines of "if money wasn't an option, what would you.... "

Good luck!

• Just because you CAN spend a lot of money on a wedding doesn't mean you SHOULD.  Think about what you really want and then do it.  But don't spend money just to spend money.  Think about your future.  Woudln't some of that maybe be better spent on a down payment on a home?  Or something more practical?  Or maybe donated to charity to help others instead of just wasting it on useless crap?

Then again, if you can spend whatever you want, why do you need our advice to tell you how to spend it? Just do whatever you want!
• Thanks Lauren!  Can you really buy out the park?

• I got engaged in Disney, wanted to get married there. Just to get married (simple, not much included) at a resort was around 20K at the least. I was thinking Cinderella castle, suite that's up in the tower... Maybe not.

I agree with PP. If you have all this money why wouldn't you just go out and hire the best wedding planner in the land????

p.s. if you ever need to throw away money, plenty of us will take it

• Disney weddings actually aren't that expensive, you could easily get a gorgeous one for 10k.

Does having a wedding planner mean you don't come on TK?

I don't know about WDW, but in DL, the $10K package is kind of sad.  My videographer has shot a couple, and the lower budget ones look like something at a Days Inn.  Still a perfectly nice wedding, but not nearly worth the money.

Companies buy out the park all the time for picnics and parties and stuff, and private individuals can as well; you're looking at seven figures easily, and that's for something after hours.  There are a LOT of personnel that have to be around when there's anyone in the park (fire department, police, first aid, facilities, and so on, and so forth), and part of renting it out is paying their (meager) wages.  The Google party was EPIC.

• Wow. Well go take your pretty princess money and go save some whales after you hire someone to do the wedding planning for you. Which I suppose means you don't need us poor people to tell you how to spend it.
In Response to Re: Unlimited Budget : I haven't really found there to be that many rules? I'm sure it depends on where you have it at WDW, you can do in front of the Castle for a minimum of 10k, but the dates/times are restrictive.
Posted by Belle2Be
<div>REALLY?! When we looked into it there was a 500k min for the front of the castle, and we HAD to use their vendors... we also couldn't have more than 50 ppl... disney must have done some huge changes then because we spoke to a couple of people about it. They said that it was a min of 500k to open the park and compensate for the amount of people that would be there, etc.  There was a much lower I believe it was like 25 k site fee alone for the swan landing but it's not in front of the castle, you had to have the ceremony BEFORE 8am, etc. Then in order to book your date you couldn't "officially" have it until 8 months out and if someone else had the same date/location you went into a lotto drawing. There were also a lot of restrictions on outside vendors and we weren't a fan of disney photo, etc... the only places that didn't have as many restrictions were the Disney hotels, but that defeated the purpose of having a castle wedding... I hope things changed since we looked into booking and made it easier/more affordable for brides!! </div><div>
</div><div>Are you getting married on disney property? If so, that's way cool!!! You should check out disboards.com... they have a whole wedding forum for disney brides! </div>

• If your budget is unlimited, there are several things you need to have:

1) Monogram everything, including the cake and dance floor
2) Your center pieces need to be at least six feet in height and contain at least 500 roses per table.
3) The tables, as well as your wedding dress, need to include huge numbers of swarovski crystals.  When anyone mentions anything about the tables or your dress, you need to be sure to inform them that the crystals are swarovski or they'll think less of you.
4) At least six courses of food spread throughout pre-ceremony, post ceremony, pre-reception, reception and post reception, and preferably food that looks incredibly stupid but is made by a big name chef.
5) A wedding dress, reception dress and after party dress.
6) Your groom should buy something very expensive but also very lame for his groomsmen.
7) The cake should be covered in crystals and fondant; it's ok if it tastes like sh*t though as long as it's expensive.
8) Live band with at least 9 members.
9) A really lame signature drink, preferably poured through an ice luge.

(You may think I'm acting like a bitch, but at least at 18&21 my FI and I can say that we are paying for our own wedding, on a budget, with money we make at our jobs.)
