This is an international board, so Channel 21 isn't the same for everyone.
    Are you in Highschool?

Congrats to your team either way.

  • From what I hear, Texas takes HS football very seriously. lol I recall this from watching Remember the Titans too many times when I was in HS. But people in the northeast pay absolutely no attention to HS sports once we'e graduated.

Same for the midwest. The last HS football game I attended was Homecoming the fall after I graduated. It was lame (as usual) so I never went back.

I live in my hometown and I don't think I could tell you if my HS team made the playoffs as I don't bother reading the HS football team playoff articles in the paper.

Texas HS Football is a religion down here. I wish I could explain it, but I doubt I can do it justice. Let me put it this way:

Allen High School in Allen, Texas got the approval for a $60,000,000 stadium last year for their football team. This is the concept:

Does that help explain how important it is to folks down here? :P

ETA: Most HS Alums don't get as crazy stoked as OP, but I know a few people I graduated with who still go to every game.

Good lord. Who is paying for that $60M high school football stadium? Local taxpayers or generous donors?

"To the residents, who voted 63 percent in favor of a $119 million bond in May 2009, this project, which includes the stadium, an auditorium for fine arts and a service center for the district, is designed to scale. Their scale just happens to be larger than most."

    :X Yeah, taxpayers.

    Wow.

I thought it was kind of ridiculous when my HS got an astroturf field after I graduated, but I'm pretty sure that was paid for by generous donors and not taxpayers. At least I would hope so.
  • no i'm not in high school.. i graduated 7 years ago.. i never followed HS football very much after i graduated until this year.. but this is the only year i've been to every game and supported my Indians. HS football here in TX is our religion. We live and breathe it every season. For the local people here in this board know that the DFW HS football teams are the toughest in the state..

You might have received a better response if you had posted this in the DFW or another Texas board :) This is an international board so most of us are outside Texas and therefore don't understand the excitement.

That's actually very incorrect. DFW sees maybe 1 or 2 teams at the state level a year. The dust bowl sees 7 or 8 every year. Generally, the toughest are in the panhandle or west Texas.

Also, do not generalize all of us <3
