[QUOTE]Sure, this isn't your average post. But I found the sweetest man you could ever ask for. He is my definition of prince charming. He proposed to me on October 27, 2012. It was all so perfect, despite us both being students and balling on a budget! Here is the downer.. I'm a 26 year old girl with myxoid liposarcoma. Long story short, cancer. I sometimes feel like what is the point of getting married when I don't know how long I have. Or why put my prince charming through heart ache. I know nothing about weddings, nor have the money for it. All I know is he is the one I want to be for the rest of my days.  How do I make my wedding a day I can never forget?  -S

  • I'm so sorry! Sounds like you found a great guy who enthusiastically wants to marry you. You don't need a ton of money to make your wedding day special- even if it's you and your fiance at a courthouse.

Also, when you say what is the point of getting married and that you don't want to put your fiance through heartache... have you thought about seeing a counselor or support group? You could be the strongest person in the world and still struggle with these questions when diagnosed with cancer at such a young age, sounds like talking with someone familiar with such issues could help

[QUOTE]I am a cancer survivor, so I feel entitled to give you a smack upside the head. Life is not guaranteed to anybody.  A person in perfect health can be killed in a freak auto accident.  No one knows how long they have. Every moment of life is precious.  Don't waste a second.  If you have found happiness, then grab it and run with it. Thanks to cancer treatment, i have had three years of love and happiness that I might not have had.  My daughter is expecting my first grandchild in May, and, God willing, I'll get to see it!  A few months ago DH and I sailed around the Baltic Sea to Scandinavia and Russia.  Wow! Life is wonderful!  Embrace it! Don't you dare waste one second feeling sorry for yourself, or worrying about something that might, or might not happen.  Get out there and enjoy your life!

</div><div>CMG's post really brings this home for me even more.  Thanks, CMG for the really wise words.
