Things have been really bad at work lately. The state of education nationwide is horrible and my district has been without a contract for over 3 years. Teacher morale is at an all time low. So when I got home tonight I found this letter from a new student's mother. It reminded me of why I get up in the morning. I just thought I'd share this for all the teachers out there that feel my pain.
Ms. ****,
I would like to introduce myself. I am ***'s mom, ****, and I would like to thank you for making your chemistry class a fun learning environment. **** absolutely adores you already, and is finally learning some chemistry because it is being presented in a manner in which she comprehends.
To hear her say "I LOVE MY NEW CHEMISTRY CLASS" makes me confident that I made the right decision. Every other sentence out of her outh is "Ms. *** is so nice!"
To not see that anxiety on her face, and hear that she has gained back some of her self-confidence is worth the world to me! **** is no longer afraid to make a mistake or ask a question.
So.. thank you for all that you are doing and for who you are, Ms. ***! You have certainly made a difference in the life of one child this year; and I suspect there are many others!
Very Sincerely,
