Wishing Well*

I am planning on having a wishing well at my bridal shower for small household gifts and gadgets. I am looking for a cute poem to place in the shower invite. I seem to be finding the same one on every site i search?

Does anyone have any cute poems for a wishing well? Thanks!

Re: Wishing Well*

  • First off you shouldn't be throwing your bridal shower but if you are here are some ideas:

    Spices, detergents and gadgets galore,
    You have several dozen
But could always use just one more!

    If you could bring
    Just one of these,
    Our bride-to-be
    You would surely please.

    Wrap it in tissue paper
But your name do not tell!
And she’ll love your little something
    Given to wish her well!

    or

    ________ is getting married
    so it only seems fitting
to have a Wishing Well for
    her shower -— no kidding!
    Something silly, something sweet,
    or something much better.
Your imagination is your only limit
on what you might get her.
Tongs, or toothpicks, maybe some tacks,
Or spoons, or spices, or decorative sacks!
    Be clever, be crazy,
    Just get into it, and
    Come to the shower to
join in the fun in honor
    of _______________
    Cheers everyone!

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.

It's a basket or bucket that shower guests put small household items in like a dish towel, oven mit, cleaning products etc. Basically any small item that you would not normally wrap up as a gift.

The idea is that each guest brings 1 thing and collectively the "well" gets filled up.

  • Hey i heard about it first time.. and it seems me annoying..
  • I've seen it before, not often though and here it is more that they ask you to bring your favorite recipe and one of the ingredients for it or ask everyone to bring pantry or baking supplies or everyone bring 1 cleaning/laundry supply.
  • I'd be annoyed at being asked to bring a present in addition to the first present.  Unless this is the only present the guests bring?

  • First of all.. a wishing well is somewhat of a "tradition" where I live. It is just not wrapping all the gifts in one but instead add in the small part of the gift to the "well". Somewhat of a "good luck" type of thing. Also it is not mandatory. I have done it for EVERY bridal shower I have been to and never once did I think of it as rude.

Also ... in regards to hobokanbrides remark that I should not be throwing my own shower. I understand that it is not the "traditional" way of doing things but my bridesmaides are not being held responsible for my whole shower. They are helping A LOT and my parents are throwing it. I enjoy planning every aspect of my wedding including my shower. So I kind of took offense to that!
