honor or honour?

So I ordered my wedding invites, I used a template not realizing that the British "honour" was used. My wedding is very formal and I have received other invites with honour instead of honor. Does anyone have a strong opinion about this? I really don't want to order new invites due to this but if this is really weird then I guess I should. Would most people think this is strange and FYI I am not British.

Re: honor or honour?

  • I wouldn't even notice....
  • I really don't think anyone would think twice about it.
Now, if it were a persons name, then I would possibly look into getting new ones. With honor vs honour though, don't sweat it, you'll be fine.

  • Honour is typically used if the wedding is taking place in a house of worship. That is what the invitation lady we talked to said, at least.

Either one is acceptable spelling. Honor is just the American-English spelling of honour. It doesn't denote a place of worship or formality. That's just some peoples' opinion, but it isn't a rule or anything.

  • I might suspect you or your FI were secretly Canadian, but otherwise, it wouldn't think anything of it. ;) But if anyone tries to get you to say "out and about" to see if you say "oot and aboot" then you'll know why.
