Stupid people...

So I'm the only one in my office today. There are only 4 people who work here, total. Small office. Someone calls and asks, "Is Mrs. Nedbetter there?" I reply with, "sorry, you have the wrong number." She CONTINUES for another 30 seconds with phrases such as, "No, this is the right number.... can I please speak with Mrs. Nedbetter?" REALLY??? WTF woman!

Re: Stupid people...

  • maybe it was a prank call. did she ask if your refridgerator was running?
  • I don't think so because I could hear what sounded like a "call center" in the background... maybe debt collection?
  • I used to get calls 2-3 times a week about some guy.  The woman would get pissy with me everytime and ask who I was and who all was here with me.  Not creepy, but like I was hiding her boyfriend.  She also told me she knew this was his phone number.  This phone numer has been in the family since the 80's.  (>.<)If she calls back just put her on hold. forever.

  • Sorry Dear I know how it is! When I got my daughter a cell phone she would get a call from AMEX I got on the phone and they wanted to arque with me and tell me she had a balance due.  I had to speak to a manager 8 times because I documented it.  I was at the point I was gonna sue because they had said things to make my then 7 year old cry.  They figured she was lying about who she was the wierd thing was the ladies name was mercedes and that is my daughters middle name. Stupid people is right!
  • **Pamyou may want to run a credit check on your daughters SSN. I don't know how they could have got her cell number, since I would assume it is in your name. I have heard of people getting children's SSN and opening credits cards because no one ever checks those. Can't cite my source but it's worth checking out now, rather than finding out in 10 years.
  • That's so annoying.  Our home number used to belong to a single mother and her daughter.  When we first moved in we were constantly getting calls for her and half the people didn't believe us that this was no longer her number.  The calls for the mother finally stopped and now we get constant calls from some little girl who insists this is her friend's phone number.  I've hung up on her a few times because she tries to argue with me about it.
  • Mistakes happen, I get it. I just hate when they argue about it.  You're wrong, move on. Ditto about the child credit card fraud - I'd look into that ASAP!
  • I work in a small office too and the Yellow Pages calls at least twice day asking to confirm our location & phone number.  Sometimes I just humor them and I say: yes, yes, correct...etcA week ago HR sent out a blast e-mail to all of our locations that they are receiving invoices from the Yellow Pages b/c all they need is someone, anyone to verbally confirm over the phone business information and they can charge the company for the listing.  I felt really bad but I had no idea.  I work in sales too so I was trying to spread good salesman/woman karma!

  • I used to get calls all the time for a tan spa--apparently they used to have my phone number before.
