WWYD - Makeup

Hello all,I don't wear any makeup other than chapstick, which doesnt really count, lol.  I've never liked how it feels on my skin nor the way I look with it on.My mom thinks I should make an exception on my wedding day, but I'm on the fence.  I know that the powder/bare minerals type is supposed to be lighter, but its so not me.Would it be weird to just skip it and go natural (as usual)?  What would you suggest?

Re: WWYD - Makeup

  • I think you'd be comfortable with a light lip gloss and some mascara. It will brighten up your face, but not be too much.
  • i agree w/ pp. i would atleast do some colored gloss.

  • Tide is the smartest woman ever. Listen to her. If you don't wear make up, you may look sick or washed out in your pictures.
  • I do wear makeup(a little foundation/mascara), but nothing fancy. I decided last second to have my makeup done professionally(ideally, if you go that route, you want at least a trial, but we did not have time).Really, I do not regret having it done at all. DH was really impressed, and my photos are amazing. It was my wedding day. I wanted to look like me all "dolled" up. I had many compliments. Good luck with your decision!

  • Thanks all!I'm African-American, so I'm not sure if I'll appear 'washed out', but a little color probably wouldnt hurt.I'll definitely check around at some local makeup counters.  If I do my own makeup, I'll end up looking like a circus act, LOL!
  • I never wear makeup either but am going to opt for it for my wedding day (because of pictures and what not) - and there is way to do light makeup that will look good in pictures without making you wonder who the hell the girl in the pictures is.  My makeup artist actually uses airbrushing and she said it tends to be a little bit lighter on the face so you don't feel like you have caked on makeup (especially if you are not used to wearing makeup) - so that might be one option.
  • It is the same with my bridesmaid Ashley she doesn't wear makeup either so I let her have an exception. I asked her to wear some lipgloss and mascara at least. For my wedding I want to go natural colors. Like gold, browns, soft natural colors. No pinks, purples, blues, or greens. I probably will use a soft pink or nude lipstick maybe or maybe a bright color on my lips. Do what you want with your face it is your day after all. At least play up your lips alittle. :)

  • Try wearing tinted chapstick in the months leading up to your wedding then a lipgloss will feel more natural
