I used to attend an Episcopal church. We were told that they painted the doors red because in war time soldiers new they could go there for a safe place.

Thanks mrsdevilguy. To the others I'm aware of how to use google. However, google comes up with varied responses, and I've noticed a lot of girls on here say they were Episcopalian and thought they may have a more clear answer. Much like mrsdevilguy did.
